Rise to the Papacy

Bibi Dong’s hatred of the Angel Clan stems from Qian Xunji, whom she describes as having destroyed her. She subsequently killed and absorbed him, rose to power as Pope, and became renowned as the most outstanding Pope of the preceding century. Despite holding Spirit Hall’s highest public office, her early ambitions included destroying the organization and potentially dragging the wider world down with it 10 21 166.

Spirit Hall is divided between her faction and Qian Daoliu’s. Their rivalry extends to recruitment and institutional decisions, although most of her proposals are accepted and Qian Daoliu seldom openly challenges her 4 7.

Attempts to Recruit Ye Tianxing

Bibi Dong initially dismisses Ye Tianxing as an ordinary child with more thoughts than his peers. Her judgment changes when he reveals the Azure Dragon Sword during the Elite Class Competition, exposing his Twin Martial Souls 4 10.

The competition disrupts her attempt to recruit the Elephant Armored Sect through a Spirit Bone reward. Qian Daoliu and Guang Ling exploit their advance knowledge of Ye Tianxing’s second Martial Soul to secure the prize for him instead. Bibi Dong concedes the setback, presents the reward, and privately offers to cultivate his Twin Martial Souls herself. He gives no answer to her overture 7 10 11.

Her recruitment efforts continue for six years. Unable to use force while Qian Daoliu protects him, she considers softer approaches, including matching him with Hu Liena. Tang San’s Investigation

A report that Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power leads Bibi Dong to suspect another concealed Twin Martial Soul wielder. The same report reconnects her with news of Yu Xiaogang, Tang San’s teacher and her former lover 14.

After Tang Hao kills the deacons sent to investigate and removes Tang San from Nuoding City, she distributes information through Spirit Hall’s branches and orders a continent-wide search. She later halts the operation to hunt Tang San, then recommends eliminating him after Ye Tianxing kills Tang Hao 14 21 193 202.

Family Ties and Papal Succession

Learning that Ye Tianxing is pursuing Qian Renxue gives Bibi Dong another way to draw him closer. She comes to regard him as her son-in-law and supplies Spirit Hall with the benefits of his Soul Ascension Pill formula. She also redirects his Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum gift to Hu Liena 81 94 95 129 164.

When Ye Tianxing returns with Qian Mingfeng, Bibi Dong publicly names him heir to the next Pope. Hu Liena had originally been her intended successor, but Ye Tianxing’s accomplishments supersede that plan 159.

Qian Mingfeng quickly wins her affection. His claim that Yu Xiaogang intends to harm him—staged with Ye Tianxing—makes her determined to confront her former lover. When Yu Xiaogang subsequently proposes abducting the child and turning him against his father, she strikes him and has him imprisoned for torture 159 160 161 162.

Partial Reconciliation with Qian Renxue

Ye Tianxing uses Bibi Dong’s unpaid debt for the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum to press her toward reconciliation with Qian Renxue. She refuses to explain their estrangement, saying its causes are too complicated to resolve so simply 162.

A later Domain contest makes reconciliation the condition of her defeat. After losing, she withdraws into Pope’s Palace, embarrassed by the public result and the gossip it produces. She eventually takes Qian Mingfeng from Qian Renxue and demands to be called “Mom” before returning him 165 166.

After seven days, Bibi Dong sends the sleeping child back through Gui Mei without obtaining that concession. The following day, Qian Renxue voluntarily brings Qian Mingfeng to Pope’s Palace, calls Bibi Dong “Mom,” and asks her to care for him. Their relationship improves, though it remains awkward 166 167.

Coordinated Expansion of Spirit Hall

Bibi Dong and Ye Tianxing stage a public divide between Spirit Hall and the Ye Clan.
