Background & History

Linghu Chong was adopted by Yue Buqun and Ning Zhongze seventeen years before Ji Boying joined Mount Hua, later formally becoming their disciple. By Ji Boying's arrival, he had spent fourteen years refining Welcoming Pine and had developed several variations of the move. 1

As Mount Hua's Senior Disciple Brother, Linghu Chong takes responsibility for teaching newer disciples. He cheerfully stops Ji Boying from going to Sky Lute Gorge and begins instructing him in swordplay, patiently explaining Welcoming Pine and later obtaining Yue Buqun's permission to teach him the complete Mount Hua Swordplay. 1 3

Ji Boying's extreme talent initially leaves Linghu Chong awed, envious, and discouraged, but he quickly chooses to support his junior brother. He recognizes that Ji's ability benefits Mount Hua and continues teaching him despite the widening gap between their swordsmanship. 1 2 4
