Background

Xiao Feng was raised within the Central Plains martial world, receiving Shaolin Temple’s upbringing and later becoming chief of the Beggar Gang. His prestige among the gang was immense: even after his Khitan heritage was exposed, many disciples still wished to follow him. 229 253

At Apricot Forest, Ji Boying publicly defended Xiao Feng against martial artists who claimed his Khitan identity disqualified him from being a Central Plains hero. The meeting exposed the conspiracy behind Deputy Chief Ma Dayuan’s murder and the effort to frame Xiao Feng; Bai Shijing, Kang Min, and Quan Guanqing were implicated.
