Background / History

Yue Buqun spent roughly two decades struggling to preserve the declining Mount Hua Sect after taking over as sect leader while still comparatively weak. He believed reclusive Mount Hua seniors had secretly protected the sect, but feared that they were aging and that Mount Hua would eventually have to rely on his own generation. Zuo Lengchan’s growing ambition, Yue’s limited talent, and Linghu Chong’s lack of progress left him increasingly anxious about the sect’s future 47.

He made an unusual exception by immediately accepting the sixteen-year-old Ji Boying as a disciple after recognizing his exceptional bone structure and potential. Yue quickly came to regard Ji as Mount Hua’s chance at revival, particularly because Ji supported the Qi Faction principle that internal-energy cultivation should take precedence over sword techniques 1 6.
