Background / History
The Demon Race once ruled the planet and seeks to rule it again. A Demonic Bloodthirsty Wolf reveals this ambition to Lin Mu during the Tower of Trials. 69
Hundreds of years before the main story, humanity dealt the Demons a severe blow in a major war, but did not truly defeat them. Many seemingly slain Demons survived and entered a period of recovery; the conflict is therefore considered ongoing rather than concluded. 98
The Demon King maintains an extensive human network, offering power and talent in exchange for service. Qin Bingfeng becomes one such servant and later reveals that the Demon King has informants embedded within the academy. 342 343
Appearance
Demons have no single body plan. They appear as beasts, humanoids, soul bodies, remnant souls, and creatures capable of assuming or borrowing other forms.
- The Thunder Demon resembles an ink-black upright hound with golden patterns and lightning-like golden pupils. 125
- The Crimson Flame Demonic Beast fights with flame-covered claws and an aura of intense heat. 110
- The Pig Head Soul Body is a tall, bipedal boar-headed soul wielding a great chopper. 152
- The Misty Ghost Toad takes a toad-like form and emits dark gas. 351
- The Demon King can fight through a Dragon Crocodile body and transform into a Dragon Person-like form. 351 339
Traits and Abilities
Variable Demonic Abilities
A Demon's capabilities are highly individual; traits can include elemental control, extreme speed, illusion, regeneration, possession, domains, and soul-based attacks.
- The Crimson Flame Demonic Beast controls fire and can detonate itself when badly wounded, though each explosion weakens it. 111 112
- The Thunder Demon can transform into lightning, granting exceptional speed. 125
- The Thunder Transformation Monkey likewise becomes lightning and is difficult to strike while intangible. 238
- The Phantom Rat casts illusions, the Azure Demon Leopard creates clones, and the Berserk Demon Elephant possesses exceptional durability and regeneration. 204
- The Moon-Chasing Fierce Bear has an immortality-like healing ability that rapidly closes its wounds. 174 176
- The Misty Ghost Toad can establish a domain that forcibly suppresses the cultivation of creatures inside it. 351
Intelligence and Strategy
Demons are capable of speech, planning, deception, coordinated hunting, and exploiting human weaknesses.
- Third Order Great Perfection Demons coordinate Fierce Beasts and use complementary attacks against Lin Mu. 239
- The Thundercloud Demon Bird can rally Demons within a thousand li against a blood-marked target after a casting period. 243
- The same bird secretly intends to let the frenzied horde kill its human controller after Lin Mu is dead. 243
- The Hao Gui Demon attempts to tempt Lin Mu's group with dozens of Fierce Beast essences. 131
Soul Bodies and Remnant Souls
Demons may persist as remnant souls or soul bodies after losing their physical forms.
- Demon Remnant Souls can draw on formations for power, but become vulnerable when the formation is damaged. 109
- The Pig Head Soul Body is immune to physical attacks and suffers negligible damage from ordinary Divine Soul attacks. 152
- The Berserk Demon Elephant's remnant soul leaves behind a Divine Soul Crystal after its physical body is destroyed. 207
- Divine Soul Crystals from slain Demon Remnant Souls can strengthen a cultivator's soul when absorbed. 109 125
Concealment and Detection
Demons are proficient at hiding their presence, making them difficult to locate even within the academy. 154
- Lin Mu's Divine Soul Eye can perceive Demon aura as black traces left along their path. 138
- Demon aura can also cling to objects, such as a Bone Fan forged from Demon bones. 149
- Demonic infiltrators may retain human appearances until they reveal scales, demonic energy, or a transformed body. 350
Netherworld Power Vulnerability
Netherworld techniques are especially dangerous to Demons because they can target life force and Divine Souls rather than merely damage the body.
- Underworld Emissaries can absorb Divine Soul Power from Demon targets. 242
- Lin Mu's Nether Blade attacks consume Demons' life force, reducing them to ash. 249
- The Thundercloud Demon Bird recognizes this as a technique associated with the Nether Emperor, whose power historically ignored many demonic abilities. 250
- The Pluto Emperor's legacy was feared because it could annihilate vast numbers of Demons and even kill ancient Demons. 272
