Background / History

The Demon King was imprisoned beneath the academy for hundreds of years. During his confinement, he continually searched for flaws in the sealing formation, damaged its foundations, and cultivated human informants to prepare for his release. His influence extended to academy counselors, formation masters, and ambitious students such as Qin Bingfeng. 342 350 358

He preserved portions of his followers' remnant souls, allowing agents such as Cai Yu'an to resurrect through a Blood Pool after death. Cai Yu'an served him by infiltrating the Ancient Life Palace and attempting to obtain its true inheritance. 253 331

After learning that Lin Mu had obtained and rapidly mastered Netherworld Power, the Demon King regarded him as a critical threat. The legacy of the Pluto Emperor had historically devastated demon forces, and Lin Mu's progress suggested he could become capable of killing Demon Kings in the future. 310 331

The Demon King first attempted to kill Lin Mu through Qin Bingfeng, replacing or controlling Qin's Divine Soul during the year-end competition. The possessed Qin displayed power far beyond an ordinary Fourth Tier Martial Artist, but the battle forced the Demon King's Demonic Power into the open. 332 338 340

Afterward, he launched further assassination attempts through academy loyalists and personally confronted Lin Mu through host bodies and a clone. Ji Xi, Du Zian, Lin Mu, Di Yan, and Long Huayu later carried out a plan to severely injure the Demon King's sealed main body. Although he resisted Di Yan's full-force attack and nearly exploited the temporary release of his restraints, combined attacks from the Earth Soul Clan and Nether Dragon Clan left him unconscious and heavily wounded.
