Background / History
The Demon King was imprisoned beneath the academy for hundreds of years. During his confinement, he continually searched for flaws in the sealing formation, damaged its foundations, and cultivated human informants to prepare for his release. His influence extended to academy counselors, formation masters, and ambitious students such as Qin Bingfeng. 342 350 358
He preserved portions of his followers' remnant souls, allowing agents such as Cai Yu'an to resurrect through a Blood Pool after death. Cai Yu'an served him by infiltrating the Ancient Life Palace and attempting to obtain its true inheritance. 253 331
After learning that Lin Mu had obtained and rapidly mastered Netherworld Power, the Demon King regarded him as a critical threat. The legacy of the Pluto Emperor had historically devastated demon forces, and Lin Mu's progress suggested he could become capable of killing Demon Kings in the future. 310 331
The Demon King first attempted to kill Lin Mu through Qin Bingfeng, replacing or controlling Qin's Divine Soul during the year-end competition. The possessed Qin displayed power far beyond an ordinary Fourth Tier Martial Artist, but the battle forced the Demon King's Demonic Power into the open. 332 338 340
Afterward, he launched further assassination attempts through academy loyalists and personally confronted Lin Mu through host bodies and a clone. His clone created a domain, fought Lin Mu with Dragon Person-like abilities, and self-destructed when it could not secure the kill before Ji Xi broke the domain. 350 351 355
Ji Xi, Du Zian, Lin Mu, Di Yan, and Long Huayu later carried out a plan to severely injure the Demon King's sealed main body. Although he resisted Di Yan's full-force attack and nearly exploited the temporary release of his restraints, combined attacks from the Earth Soul Clan and Nether Dragon Clan left him unconscious and heavily wounded. He was sealed again rather than killed, as his Source of Life and external avatar would allow eventual resurrection. 358 360 362 363
Following his resealing, the Demon King used an escaped remnant soul to monitor Lin Mu's growth. Desperate to prevent Lin Mu from advancing further, he accepted the Myriad Poison Demon King's humiliating terms of assistance in exchange for Lin Mu's death. 369
Appearance
The Demon King's true body is massive and bestial, with dark pupils, sharp claws, immense physical power, and a dense demonic aura. While acting through hosts or clones, he commonly assumes dragon-like forms. 358 360
- Appeared to Cai Yu'an as a huge phantom emerging from a swamp. 331
- Possessed Qin Bingfeng in a Dragon Person form covered in black scales. 338 339
- Used a Dragon Crocodile host and transformed it into a more dragon-like combat form. 351 353
- Manifested black dragon shadows, black flames, black lightning, and corrosive demonic energy in battle. 338 351
Personality
The Demon King is calculating and patient, having spent centuries weakening his prison and building a network of human collaborators. He does not waste resources casually; after Cai Yu'an failed, he suppressed his anger and sought the reason behind the failure rather than immediately destroying his agent. 331 358
He is intensely arrogant about his status as a top-tier lifeform and consistently underestimates Lin Mu's capacity for growth. Lin Mu's ability to learn his Space Power techniques during combat provoked jealousy and rage, deepening the Demon King's determination to kill him. 339 354
Despite his pride, he is pragmatic when cornered. After being injured and resealed, he agreed to the Myriad Poison Demon King's demands rather than risk being sealed by a rival for thousands of years. 369
Abilities & Skills
Demonic Power and Physical Might
The Demon King's body possesses exceptional speed, strength, defense, recovery, and instinctive reactions to lethal threats. Even after centuries of sealing, he could overpower Di Yan's Netherworld Greatsword and was considered capable of destroying a city if fully unsealed. 360
- Uses claws enhanced by Demonic Power to meet or repel powerful weapon strikes. 360
- Can manifest black dragon shadows and dragon-like transformations during battle. 351 353
- Employs destructive techniques including World Annihilation and Dragon Annihilation through possessed or projected bodies. 338 352
- Was weakened considerably by prolonged imprisonment and pure Netherworld Power. 358 362
Possession, Clones, and Remnant Souls
The Demon King can implant his consciousness into other bodies, control human agents, and preserve remnant souls as contingencies. 331 332 369
- Controlled Qin Bingfeng's body and replaced or suppressed Qin's Divine Soul during the year-end competition. 332 333
- Fought Lin Mu through a Dragon Crocodile host after his earlier exposure. 351
- Created a powerful clone within a domain; its self-destruction still inflicted damage on his main body. 355
- Preserved Cai Yu'an's remnant soul, enabling his resurrection through a Blood Pool. 331
- Arranged for a formation master to escape with part of his own remnant soul after the main body was critically injured. 369
Space Power
As a Demon King, he demonstrates refined control over Space Power beyond that of most Fourth Tier Martial Artists. 353
- Tears through space with claw attacks and creates spatial cracks around his body. 352 353
- Uses rapid, difficult-to-predict attacks that Lin Mu later imitated after observing them in battle. 354
- His techniques were vulnerable to Lin Mu's Divine Soul Eye, combat insight, and rapid learning ability. 354
Domain Suppression
Through the Misty Ghost Toad host, the Demon King deployed a special domain that suppresses the cultivation of those within it. 351
- Suppresses targets to the Fourth Tier, including individuals who temporarily forced a Fifth Tier breakthrough. 351
- Intended to restrict Lin Mu's growth advantage and create a controlled killing ground. 351
- The domain could be damaged from outside by Ji Xi's spear attacks. 354 355
Source of Life and Resurrection
A crystal within the Demon King's body serves as his Source of Life. Destroying his physical body alone is insufficient to permanently kill him. 363
- The Source of Life is difficult even for a Ninth Stage Martial Artist to destroy. 363
- An external avatar in the demon world contains part of the crystal and can resurrect him after several centuries if the main crystal is destroyed. 363
- This resilience led Ji Xi's group to choose resealing over attempting a permanent kill. 363
Demon Network
The Demon King commands or influences numerous human and demon subordinates. His agents are used for surveillance, assassination, infiltration, and manipulation of demon forces. 243 342 350
- Ordered the Thundercloud Demon Bird to temporarily obey Han Chao and assist in killing Lin Mu. 243
- Promised three drops of his essence blood to anyone who killed Lin Mu, mobilizing hundreds of hostile figures. 328
- Maintained informants throughout the academy, including high-ranking personnel. 343 350
- His control is not absolute; demon allies and other Demon Kings pursue their own interests. 243 369
