Background / History

During Lin Mu’s Soul Engraving, an unknown character surrounded by howling gales slowly took shape deep within his Divine Soul. The process was dangerous enough that the Tower Guardian could not intervene, but it ultimately strengthened the soul and gave Lin Mu the foundation to control Attribute Power. Lan Xuanxin maintained the Formation through the ordeal. 68 69

Lin Mu subsequently tempered the Divine Soul by absorbing large numbers of Divine Soul Crystals. He accumulated Wind, Fire, Lightning, and Water Attribute Power, then acquired two further attributes in the Five Elements Heavenly Sect ruins. Rather than settle for an ordinary multi-attribute crystal, he endured the far greater burden of condensing a Six Source Crystal. 134 136

The completed Six Source Crystal caused a third eye to emerge in his Divine Soul. This Divine Soul Eye proved to be an unusual and poorly documented power, capable of perceiving hidden demonic traces and developing alongside the soul itself. 136 138 228

Lin Mu later subjected his Divine Soul to repeated destruction and reassembly in the Divine Soul Grinding Mill. His Life Body caused life energy to merge into the recovering soul, leaving milky-white vitality within its crystals and giving it exceptional recovery and resilience. Shi Yu’s hostile sound-wave attacks unintentionally accelerated this refinement and helped Lin Mu reach the Third Tier. 222 223

In the Netherworld, Lin Mu obtained the incomplete first layer of the Nether Emperor Soul Refining Technique. The art refined his Divine Soul as though it were a physical body, gradually solidifying it and producing bones and meridians within it. His performance in the Nether Pool earned recognition from the Nether Emperor’s Stele, which emitted one hundred and twenty zhang of Soul Light. 280 281

The Divine Soul is primarily perceived through Lin Mu’s inner soul space. Its form has changed repeatedly through cultivation, progressing from an intangible spiritual presence into a partially manifested, body-like soul. 68 280 281
