Ukitake had suddenly assigned Yoru Machi this mission not because Third Seat Reikawa was a young woman and he was giving her special treatment, nor because Kaien had particularly recommended Yoru Machi.

Rangiku only had a handful of friends in the Soul Society whom she could truly get along with, and Yoru Machi barely counted as one of her drinking buddies.

Rangiku was a terrible drunk and often pretended to be drunk to dodge the bill. She claimed she would treat him ten times, but at least nine of those times, Yoru Machi ended up paying. Yet he was more than happy to drink with her.

There was no other reason. Her chest was generous, and even her loose Shinigami Uniform could not hide its magnificence. Rangiku also drank with bold abandon, so every now and then, she gave Yoru Machi quite a few pleasant little surprises.

After completing all the tedious procedures, Yoru Machi was finally ready to depart for the Human World.

For the Thirteenth Division, the "Purification Squad," going to the Human World was nothing unusual. In fact, the Shinigami stationed in every city were all members of their Thirteenth Division.

A Shinigami's body was composed of spirit particles, and the Human World also possessed a certain amount of spirit particles. Thus, for a Shinigami to travel there, a guiding Soul Butterfly and a Senkaimon were generally all that was needed.

The Soul Society's Senkaimon was a towering mountain-gate structure, with two square wooden pillars soaring into the clouds before it. Yet when a Senkaimon appeared in the Human World, it was merely a simple wooden sliding door.

Yoru Machi did not feel much pressure about this trip to the Human World. Though Gillians could crush most rookie Shinigami, with his current strength, killing a Hollow of that level was more than easy.

However, what puzzled Yoru Machi was that when he entered the Senkaimon, he faintly sensed a powerful unease!

A few minutes later, Yoru Machi gripped his Zanpakuto and stared at the dim passage around him, as well as the Kōtsu that was nearly upon him. His expression became extremely grim.

It was not as though using a Senkaimon came without risk. After all, it was a means of transportation connecting two worlds. If there was even the slightest error in its coordinates, unexpected situations could occasionally occur—such as Yoru Machi now finding himself in the "Dangai"!

The so-called "Dangai" was the gap between the Human World and the Soul Society, a space completely surrounded by the torrent of time.

Because several severed layers of space overlapped, it was a space completely enveloped by the torrent of time. The density of time inside was overwhelmingly greater than outside; in numerical terms, it was roughly 2,000 times higher.

And that was not even the most troublesome part. The Dangai contained Kōryū and Kōtsu, and when ordinary Shinigami encountered them, they almost invariably died.

Kōtsu appeared only once every seven days. It was the Dangai's "cleaner," requiring no spiritual pressure to survive, and whenever it appeared, it eradicated every form of matter blocking its path.

Shinigami could do absolutely nothing against Kōtsu, because the thing itself was the natural nemesis of spirit particles. A Shinigami's body was made of spirit particles, so they were especially helpless against it.

Aizen could destroy Kōtsu in an instant largely because of Hollow power, or because he had used the Hogyoku.

But no matter which it was, neither was something Yoru Machi could possibly accomplish right now.

The odds of a Senkaimon malfunctioning and bringing someone into the Dangai were already below one percent. Now, encountering Kōtsu in the Dangai, which only appeared once every seven days, made the odds closer to one in a thousand!

If he truly had no connection whatsoever with the final boss, Yoru Machi might even have suspected that someone had set him up!

He unleashed all the spiritual pressure in his body, tightened his grip on his Zanpakuto, and imitated Getsuga Tensho, swinging out high-density Spirit Energy Slashes that flew straight into the oncoming Kōtsu.

Yet Kōtsu itself was the Dangai's cleaner, an existence capable of devouring and clearing away all spirit particles. Powerful spiritual pressure had no effect on it whatsoever.

Spirit Energy Slashes powerful enough to cleave apart a Menos Grande struck Kōtsu, but it was completely unfazed.

Seeing this, Yoru Machi had just turned to flee when his body suddenly experienced a problem. At that moment, a flat electronic voice abruptly sounded in his mind.

"Detected that the host is currently within a special spatial environment. Conditions fulfilled. The Dimension Hopping System is now officially activating.

System startup in progress. Current progress: ten percent, twenty percent... During system startup, please remain still to avoid unexpected accidents."

Hearing the voice in his head, Yoru Machi nearly cursed out loud. Though this Third-Party Illegal Software had arrived somewhat late, having a cheat was always a good thing.

But the key issue was that this cheat had appeared at an absolutely terrible time. Worse still, the setting that forcibly prevented his body from moving while the system activated was utterly ridiculous!

Honestly, Kōtsu was not very fast. Even if Yoru Machi could not defeat it, he was still capable of running away. But if his body could not move now, wasn't he just being served up on a platter?

No one knew what happened to Shinigami swallowed by Kōtsu, because not every Shinigami was the world's beloved child, Ichigo.

As Kōtsu drew closer and closer, Yoru Machi watched the system's progress bar crawl to only fifty percent, and his expression grew increasingly anxious.

What kind of garbage cheat was this? Other transmigrators received their cheats in the first or second chapter, but his had taken more than ten whole chapters to arrive.

And it had not activated early or late—it had to activate at this exact moment, complete with that idiotic restriction preventing him from moving. Was his luck stat seriously E?
