Background / History

Xiao Wu is a hundred-thousand-year soul beast who took human form and began cultivating again from the beginning. Unlike soul beasts merely using human forms, she cannot return to beast form; however, she will still leave behind a spirit ring and soul bone if killed by a Spirit Master 181 224.

Her mother is Ah Rou. Da Ming, the Sky Azure Bull Python, and Er Ming, the Titan Giant Ape, were raised alongside Xiao Wu after Ah Rou adopted them; both regard her as their elder sister 106. Ah Rou was later revived through Ye Zhiqiu’s resurrection techniques and reunited with Xiao Wu 255 257.

Xiao Wu enrolled at Nuoding Academy as a Work-Study Student and entered Dormitory Seven. She quickly defeated Tang San in a spar, then challenged Ye Zhiqiu, only to be controlled by his Sharingan illusion technique 14 15. She subsequently became one of Ye Zhiqiu and Tang San’s closest companions, traveling with them through Nuoding Intermediate Academy and eventually to Shrek Academy 43 49 59.

Her identity was initially known only to Ye Zhiqiu and later to select trusted allies. Fear of powerful Spirit Masters repeatedly unsettled her, especially after Tang Hao and Dugu Bo recognized the danger surrounding her true nature 78 79 194. The wider Shrek group ultimately learned the truth and accepted her without discrimination 252.

Despite her bravado, Xiao Wu is deeply affectionate toward her friends and family. She is distressed by the need to hunt spirit beasts, fears rejection because of her identity, and is especially attached to Tang San, Ye Zhiqiu, Ah Rou, Da Ming, and Er Ming 24 105 175 255.
