Gu Yuena was prematurely awakened from a crystal coffin beneath the Lake of Life, ten thousand years before her intended awakening. Her injuries had not healed, and her attempt to seal away her memories and power had been left incomplete; this disruption caused her divided personalities and unstable condition. 228

Her primary personality initially regarded Ye Zhiqiu as an intruder responsible for disrupting her plans and sought to kill him. Her secondary personality, however, emerged with no memory of her identity, true form, or past. 228
