Background / History

Hanabi is Hiashi Hyuga’s younger daughter and Hinata’s younger sister. From childhood, she displayed exceptional talent for the Hyuga Clan’s techniques, surpassing Hinata in combat at six years old and earning direct instruction from Hiashi. Her confidence in her own ability initially made her dismissive of Naruto, whom she regarded as an academy “Dead Last.” She also wanted a husband worthy of being called a hero, a standard she believed Naruto could not meet at the time. 17

During Orochimaru’s attack on Konoha, Hanabi witnessed Naruto enter the Four Violet Flames Formation through space-time ninjutsu and protect her after Hinata shielded her from the Second Hokage’s attack. The incident forced Hanabi to reconsider the boy she had long treated as a nuisance. 52 57

Although she continued to antagonize Naruto—often kicking or striking him when frustrated—her relationship with him gradually improved through shared time with Hinata, including the Fireworks Festival.
