Outside the barrier, the last few dim shadows trying to flee were silently annihilated as searing white flames pursued them.
Shen Yi withdrew his hand, and the Flame of Continued Combustion dancing in his palm slowly died out. He frowned slightly as he swept his gaze across this stretch of void tainted by the aura of the undead. Though the undead had been purified, a faint lingering chill of deathly silence remained, requiring time before the chaotic torrent of Beyond-World rules could fully wash it away.
He turned and stepped back inside the barrier. The barrier quietly dissipated at his will, leaving only a lingering trace of warmth.
"How do you feel?" Shen Yi looked at Winnie and Xilos.
Winnie had already opened her eyes. Though her face was still somewhat pale, clarity had returned to her gaze, and the source of her soul had been temporarily stabilized by Shen Yi's power. She nodded lightly. "Much better. Thank you."
Xilos had also finished regulating her breathing, and the restless authority of flames around her had calmed. She rose to her feet and bowed to Shen Yi. "Thank you for intervening in time, Lord Shen Yi."
Shen Yi waved a hand. His gaze fell on Wen Ke'er, who was still under the focused protection of his power, before he looked around at the surrounding void and spoke in a deep voice.
"We can't stay here for long. The undead have been cleared out, but there's no guarantee more won't be drawn here."
He paused and looked at Winnie and Xilos. "You said that a massive disturbance swept through the Beyond-World, and only afterward did the undead begin multiplying abnormally. Winnie, you also sensed that the rule of 'deathly silence' had become more active and its corrosion had intensified."
