Background / History
Ajisai was raised in Amegakure under the belief that safety existed only inside the village and that outsiders were inherently hostile. He idolized Konan, whom he called the “Angel,” and hoped to help lead Amegakure toward strength. His personal wish was to someday see stars over the perpetually gloomy village. 83
During the Chunin Exams, Konan assigned Ajisai to investigate possible Jinchuriki. He approached Moriyue’s group, secretly probing Moriyue and later mistaking Kazeki’s unusual chakra for Tailed Beast chakra. Ajisai relayed this intelligence to Amegakure. 24 37 38 83
After his promotion to Chunin, Konan gave him an S-rank mission to intercept Moriyue and Yugito Nii. Though he ambushed them with Paper Blizzard, sealing cards, and summoned creatures, he was decisively outmatched and captured. Ajisai refused to betray Konan despite believing the assignment was effectively suicidal. 83 84
Moriyue implanted a forbidden-jutsu mark in Ajisai’s hand and released him with a one-month ultimatum. The mark left Ajisai uncertain whether he was being tracked or poisoned, while the mission and his defeat made him question both his strength and Konan’s teachings. 86 87
Ajisai repeatedly attempted to evade or oppose Moriyue, including trying to steal an antidote and setting traps. Moriyue tracked him through the implanted mark, captured him again at Tenchi Bridge, and ultimately converted his loyalty from Konan to himself. 94 123
Appearance
Ajisai is a slight, purple-haired shinobi with golden eyes. He was first seen with small curled pigtails, while later appearances describe his hair as short and light purple. 24 152
- Purple hair, sometimes styled in small curled pigtails 24
- Golden eyes; purple eyeshadow becomes visible when he prepares for combat 24 235
- Uses a mask and carries a long sword during covert operations 198
- Bears dark-red Curse Marks on his hands and, later, across his body 94 235
Personality
Initially, Ajisai is cautious, optimistic, and intensely devoted to Konan. He accepts a dangerous mission rather than betray her, but his encounters with outsiders during the Chunin Exams begin to erode Amegakure’s isolationist worldview. 37 84 87
After submitting to Moriyue, Ajisai becomes cheerful, highly devoted, and eager to prove his usefulness. He is protective of Moriyue’s plans and takes pride in Moriyue’s victories. 137 151
His loyalty is paired with a disturbing curiosity toward experimentation. He is fascinated by Kekkei Genkai, human modification, and forcibly turning people into summoning beasts; he can appear pleasant and cooperative while acting with calculated cruelty. 137 151 164 170
Abilities & Skills
Sealing Cards and Space-Time Techniques
Ajisai specializes in sealing cards, unsealing techniques, and summoning-related space-time ninjutsu. Moriyue considers him a rare technical talent capable of serving as a specialist in sealing techniques. 84 85
- Uses sealing cards to store and deploy equipment, clothing, traps, and summoned creatures. 86 90 137
- Can use a special sealing card to take control of an opponent’s summoned beast. 141
- Disables and bypasses barrier seals without alerting sensory ninja. 198
- Uses forbidden sealing jutsu, including techniques involving living sacrifices. 198
Summoning Technique
Ajisai commands a wide range of summoned beasts and can sustain a battle through repeated deployments rather than direct confrontation. 137 146
- Summoned a giant bird from a Curse Mark to block Yugito Nii’s attack. 84
- Has summoned a panda, bull, chameleon, insects, beetles, and other creatures for defense, pursuit, concealment, and attrition. 90 123 137
- Can deploy numerous sealed summons to overwhelm groups from range. 137

- His summoning capacity is limited by chakra and mental stamina; he collapsed after pushing himself against the Animal Path. 142
Curse Marks and Modification
Moriyue implanted Curse Marks into Ajisai, initially using them to track and control him. Ajisai later developed and modified these marks himself. 86 94 123 235
- Moriyue could locate Ajisai through the mark even when he attempted to hide. 123
- Used a Curse Mark technique on Haku to enter and inspect his memories, though a mysterious presence shattered the attempt. 170
- His evolved Curse Mark can replenish nutrients from Moriyue, but prolonged separation caused it to become unstable and drive him into an irrational state. 235
- Produces black tentacles and can condense them into a black longsword resembling Moriyue’s former weapon. 269
Combat and Infiltration
Ajisai’s combat ability expands beyond summoning as he trains under Moriyue. By later arcs, he is proficient in ninjutsu, taijutsu, stealth, and tactical combat. 198 235
