Background

Early life and education

Liu Mengxi is the second young lady of Linjiang’s Liu Family. Her parents died in a car accident five years before the events of Chapter 4, after which her elder sister Liu Yunshuang raised her in both a sisterly and maternal role. Yunshuang’s strict upbringing leaves Mengxi intimidated by her despite their close family bond. 4

Her father was Liu Zhengkun. Before her parents’ deaths, business dealings between the Liu Group and Star Dome Group brought the family into contact with the Jiangs, and her parents frequently took her to visit their home. Qin Mengxuan remembers her from these childhood visits. 75

Mengxi grew up alongside Jiang Che and remained deeply attached to him. Jiang Che had promised to become her boyfriend if she entered Linjiang University through her own efforts; despite previously average grades, she earned admission with a score of 675 and became a freshman there. 1

She studies financial management, intending to help manage the Liu Family’s businesses after graduation. 298

At the beginning of university life, Mengxi gives each of her three roommates an iPhone 16 Pro Max and high-end cosmetics. Her generosity and sweet disposition make her popular in the dormitory, where the others recognize her as their leader. She participates in freshman military training rather than using her connections to avoid it, temporarily staying in the dormitory and planning to return to Qingteng Villa afterward. 110

Her university room, Room 4067, becomes known as the “Goddess Dormitory” because of its residents’ reputations as campus beauties. Chen Xuewei and Xu Qiuli are among her roommates; Xu Qiuli obtains a place there through connections specifically to approach Mengxi and, through her, Jiang Che. 299

Relationship with Jiang Che

Following a night at the Yunhai Grand Hotel, Jiang Che gives Mengxi a Marrow Cleansing Pill and a Youth Preserving Pill. She follows his instructions completely, and the pills cleanse her body and visibly improve her skin and appearance. 3 4

After discovering that Mengxi spent the night with Jiang Che, Liu Yunshuang grounds her until school begins. Mengxi informs Jiang Che of the restriction and asks him for additional Youth Preserving Pills for her sister. By the time Mengxi prepares to move into Qingteng Villa, Yunshuang has become supportive of the relationship, reassured by Jiang Che’s gifts and the protection he provides. 4 73

Mengxi later moves into Qingteng Villa with Jiang Che. Although unsettled by discovering Xiao Yi and Shen Yuxuan already living there, she chooses not to openly mistreat them and instead suppresses her resentment. 79 80

Jiang Che brings her to Cloud Top Manor to meet his family. Qin Mengxuan accepts her warmly, gives her a white jade bracelet as a Jiang Family token, and explicitly recognizes her as a future daughter-in-law. 75 78

Jiang Jianguo subsequently gives Mengxi a red envelope and asks after her grandfather. His recognition delights her because she interprets it as acceptance by all of Jiang Che’s family and further encouragement for her hope of marrying him. 156

At a later family banquet, Chen Xuewei confesses her involvement with Jiang Che. Mengxi feels hurt and jealous but ultimately does not lose her temper or blame her friend. Qin Mengxuan continues to show her particular affection, while the other women recognize Mengxi’s standing as Jiang Che’s official girlfriend and the matriarch’s favored prospective daughter-in-law. 782 783

After the banquet, Xia Qingge and several other women comfort Mengxi with praise. Xia Qingge claims that Jiang Che frequently speaks about and especially dotes on Mengxi, although the narration identifies this claim as a reassuring fabrication. Mengxi accepts the compliments happily, and the gathering becomes more harmonious. 783

While Jiang Che is away in the Imperial Capital, Mengxi continues to miss him intensely and keeps their relationship close through video calls. She labels their chat “The Best Husband Lord in the World” and, despite her shyness, directly calls him late at night to express that she misses him. 1023 1024

Northern Song journey

Mengxi travels with Jiang Che to the Northern Song Dynasty and settles with him in Bianliang. There, she meets Li Qingzhao—whom she had admired through history and literature—and immediately recognizes her as the future renowned poet. 736

The journey takes place through a magical mirror. Initially frightened and incredulous, Mengxi uses her heightened martial senses to notice that the ancient world’s atmosphere and environment differ markedly from modern Linjiang. Jiang Che changes her modern clothing into a pink ancient-style dress, and she soon becomes curious about local life, including the taste of Northern Song soup dumplings. 729 730

Her initial excitement about Li Qingzhao shifts into jealousy when she notices Li Qingzhao’s interest in Jiang Che. Despite this, she maintains a polite façade and eventually becomes friendly with her. 740 741

Mengxi’s knowledge of history leads her to suggest that Jiang Che save the gravely ill Emperor Zhezong, Zhao Xu. However, she emphasizes that the choice is his and that she will support him regardless of his decision, placing his wishes above concern for the course of history. 743

During the journey, she also witnesses Jiang Che carrying their group into the sky with Sword Riding Flight. Despite already knowing that he possesses extraordinary abilities, she is deeply astonished by the demonstration. 758

Jiang Che and Mengxi marry in the Northern Song Dynasty in a wedding presided over by Emperor Zhao Xu. 765 After returning to the modern era, Mengxi proudly introduces Li Qingzhao to the women at Qingteng Villa. 775 776

Before that introduction, Mengxi explains Jiang Che’s existing romantic relationships to Li Qingzhao and shares information about the poet’s future literary achievements. When Shen Yuxuan and Xiao Yi initially doubt Li Qingzhao’s identity, Mengxi asks Jiang Che to confirm the story. He explains that their absence of more than half a month was a Northern Song vacation during which he changed Zhao Xu’s fate and brought Li Qingzhao back with them. 776

Mengxi is trusting, affectionate, and exceptionally devoted to Jiang Che. She has known him since childhood and consistently treats his words as reliable, readily accepting the pills he gives her without doubt. 3 193

She is also sensitive to Jiang Che’s other relationships. She becomes jealous and quietly upset when confronted with his romantic involvement with other women, but generally avoids public confrontations or cruelty toward them. 80 154 782

Despite her sheltered upbringing, Mengxi is considerate toward her friends. She encourages Chen Xuewei to take initiative toward a crush and remains unaware that both Chen and Xu Qiuli harbor designs on Jiang Che. 298 299

Although born into one of Linjiang’s Six Great Families, she shows little aristocratic arrogance and gets along well with her roommates. Her cheerful, lively behavior and willingness to give gifts help her form friendships readily. 110 298

Mengxi can adopt a playfully haughty manner when praised, but beneath it remains innocent, shy, and eager for Jiang Che’s affection.
