Appearance
Azure Planet is an inhabited world protected by a powerful geomagnetic field. For roughly five centuries, its natural sky and sunlight were obscured by the red-and-black Esha cloud layer; Li Aoz’s ascent through Esha briefly revealed its blue sky and sun to the population below 288 799.
- Its name derives from the azure sky visible beyond the artificial light and Esha clouds 782.
- Its geomagnetic field can redirect high-energy charged particles and, together with Esha corruption and the atmosphere, forms a major planetary defense barrier 799.
- The Outland is a freezing, desolate region abandoned and exploited by the Four Nations 7.
Background and History
Old Era and extraterrestrial contact
Azure Planet’s Old Era civilizations received knowledge from extraterrestrial sources through Cresta, also called the White Tower, a third-kind-contact organization that translated alien knowledge into forms locals could use 237 266. The Aura of Martial Artists, mechanical magnetic-field energy, Biochemist cellular power, Healer life force, Plunderer energy, and Mutant Aura all originated from extraterrestrial civilizations rather than native development 266.
This assistance enabled industrial and scientific growth: the Old Era developed food production, interstellar spacecraft, gravitational-wave antennas, and high-energy laser fusion. However, Azure Planet had to demonstrate the ability to operate at least one light-year beyond its homeworld to qualify for interstellar immigration rights 266.
Esha and the Entropy Monarch
Supernatural phenomena appeared on Azure Planet less than three centuries before the story, seemingly emerging almost overnight alongside Esha, the red-and-black cloud formation associated with misfortune 11. Esha is identified as the Entropy Monarch’s consciousness; when outside knowledge threatened it, the entity unleashed a mental storm that sealed the world from external contact 424.
The Entropy Monarch resides in Azure Planet’s star marrow. Its existence made planetary destruction a recurring contingency: if left unchecked, it could eventually threaten the wider universe 206. Li Aoz later learned that the Heroes Empire likely knew of the Monarch and may have treated Azure Planet as both a strategic asset against the Maxwell Syndicate and a potential doomsday weapon, though this remained his conjecture 424.
Destruction in the former timeline
In Li Si’s former timeline, a fatal Azure Planet-server loophole escalated until the Galaxy Civilization was introduced as an emergency patch. Fifty-six players, including Li Si, operated the Galaxy fleet’s planet-destroying cannon; Azure Planet was melted into lava, shattered into debris, and ultimately swallowed by a massive celestial body 1 14.
The White Obelisk and independent development
Li Aoz’s discovery of the White Obelisk created an alternative to evacuation or planetary destruction. He deployed the Path landmark in Eerga City, Red Arrow Empire, hoping Azure Planet could develop independently rather than become a subordinate state of a Narrative-level Civilization 361.
The obelisk introduced a Path toward godhood to local inhabitants. Its first known Eerga City recipient, farmer Kadan Folich, manifested Aura and gained telekinetic ability after touching it 362. Li Aoz later used the monument’s Path Guardian authority to offer new entrants either the Gravity or Eye of Truth Aura 436.
Liberation and interstellar recognition
When the Entropy Monarch’s awakening threatened the planet, Li Aoz issued the SS-rank total-war quest “Azure Planet”, mobilizing Descenders from White Candle Star and other worlds to return and fight for their homeworld 789. After the crisis, representatives of the Four Nations and Outland powers convened in the former Red Arrow imperial capital—renamed Lioz-Gavka—and established the Azure Planet Community of Common Destiny 825.
Azure Planet later launched a one-way meteor assault on the Maxwell Syndicate’s homeworld, using gravity-assisted rockets carrying its armed forces because it lacked a conventional interstellar fleet 828. The resulting conflict ended with the planet recognized as an independent city-state, while Li Aoz retained sovereignty, popular support, and control of its Path 831.
Later destruction
Despite its recovery and expansion, Azure Planet could not match the pace of the Earthling invasion. A later account states that it was completely destroyed, and that the warrior who had twice protected it did not return 1074.
Political Landscape
| Power | Position on Azure Planet |
|---|---|
| Frostplate | One of the Four Nations; its superhuman infrastructure is poorly organized, while Law Enforcement Division Four is portrayed as corrupt and oppressive 4 |
| Red Arrow Empire | An industrialized imperial power driven by revenge for historical invasion, territorial loss, and unequal treatment 153 |
| Heavenly Ring | A nation noted for its mastery of martial combat and later internal reform 153 773 |
| Righteous Dawn | One of the Four Nations; later faced a crisis involving officials being replaced by mysterious beings and Entropy Annihilation Apostles gathering on its territory 773 |
| Azure Planet Community of Common Destiny | Post-liberation alliance formed by representatives of the nations and Outland powers 825 |
Strategic Significance
- Azure Planet lies at a convenient contact point between the Maxwell Syndicate and Fiennes Federation, making it valuable despite its remote position 712.
- The Fiennes Federation viewed the planet as a possible strategic stepping stone against the Maxwell Syndicate and was willing to aid its people in reaching Gamma-rank strength 266.
- It became one of Star Abyss’s most important player worlds, with an estimated 410 million active players on the Azure Planet server in later versions 770.
- More than two million Gamma-rank [Overlord] Path Deified Persons were present on Azure Planet during the Heavenly Ring conflict 591.
- The Entropy Monarch considered Azure Planet, with its player population and Path landmarks, the most worthwhile world in which to cultivate an [Overlord] Path Deified Person 932.
Relationships
- Li Aoz / Lioz — Azure Planet’s Path pioneer, military protector, and eventual sovereign; he deployed the White Obelisk, mobilized Descenders against the Entropy Monarch, and consolidated the planet’s political order 361 789 831.
- Entropy Monarch — An Origin Species housed within the planet’s star marrow; its Esha consciousness isolated Azure Planet and made the world a recurring extinction risk 206 424.
- White Candle Star — Azure Planet became an exclave under the White Candle Autonomous State, which also received large numbers of Azure Planet immigrants and players 825 549.
- Maxwell Syndicate — A hostile interstellar power tied to the spread of advanced knowledge on Azure Planet; the planet later launched a direct meteor assault against its homeworld 424 828.
- Fiennes Federation / Heroes Empire — External power with strategic interest in Azure Planet’s location and development; Li Aoz believed it had prepared planetary destruction as a contingency against the Entropy Monarch 266 424.
- Cresta / White Tower — Old Era contact organization that introduced and translated extraterrestrial knowledge for Azure Planet’s civilizations 237 266.
Trivia
- Azure Planet was designated as an independent novice area and server for Star Abyss players during the closed beta 153.
- Li Si personally participated in destroying Azure Planet in the former game timeline, making his arrival on the supposedly destroyed world especially significant 1 14.
- The phrase “Azure Planet” is linked in-universe to the sight of the natural blue sky, white clouds, and sunlight that had been hidden behind Esha 782.
