Zhu Dan led Liu Yang, Zheng Ying, and the Red Water Bay Superhumans into the Science and Technology Innovation Tower to rescue survivors, clearing the first three floors of zombies. As the team continued upward, the rescued survivors debated seeking free awakening serum, while one man left the tower alone with a steel pipe.

• Zhu Dan briefed his team on the mission to clear the tower and rescue its survivors, then led them inside.
• Liu Yang’s noisy entrance drew zombies from the upper floors, and Zhu Dan, Liu Yang, Zheng Ying, and the strength-enhanced fighters killed the attackers.

• Shang Qian noticed that the zombies around the mine pit were all evolved, and she and Shen Jin refilled their Jetpacks before descending to search for ore.
• Shen Jin scanned the lower mine and found four diamond ore blocks in a dark tunnel behind a loader.
• A Harpy Zombie lunged at Shen Jin and Shang Qian, but Shang Qian teleported them to safety.
• Shang Qian concluded that the Harpy Zombie had eaten the ordinary zombies, leaving only evolved zombies in the area.
• Shen Jin recalled how Harpy Zombies had been defeated before, devised a plan, and started setting it up outside the tunnel.

Shen Jin and Shang Qian lured a Tier 1 Harpy Zombie into a TNT trap, killed it, and began mining the diamond pit. After discovering rich ore deposits, Shen Jin set up four Mining Machines and made a comfortable base inside the pit, where he and Shang Qian settled in to rest.

• Shen Jin and Shang Qian baited the Harpy Zombie into a trapped tunnel, blasted it with TNT, and finished it off with their swords.
• Shen Jin collected the Harpy Zombie’s Energy Crystal Core, and he and Shang Qian searched the remaining tunnels to make sure the pit was clear.
• Shen Jin mined Diamond Ore and used Diamond Fragments to craft a Diamond, then found more ore with his OD Scanner.
• Shen Jin placed four Mining Machines around the pit and let them automate the excavation.

Zhu Dan's team discovered that survivors had vanished from several floors of the Science and Technology Innovation Tower and found evidence that a tentacled monster had dragged them into the ventilation ducts. As the team continued upstairs, a tiny, powerful zombie attacked Zhu Dan, and a swarm of similar zombies emerged around them.

• Zhu Dan noticed that the twentieth and twenty-first floors were empty of people despite barricaded offices, and his team found blood and unfinished food inside.
• A black tentacle attacked Zhu Dan from an air-conditioning duct, but Liu Yang held it while Zheng Ying and the others cut it off; the remaining tentacle escaped into the duct.
• Zhu Dan concluded that the tentacle monster had taken the missing people and led the team upstairs to find and destroy it.
• On the twenty-third floor, a tiny zombie ambushed Zhu Dan and bit his Spider-Man Suit until a team member killed it.
• A swarm of tiny zombies poured out from around the twenty-third floor, surrounding the team.

Zhu Dan's team rested after fighting through the twenty-third floor, then faced a swarm of little zombies on the twenty-fourth. Shen Jin reflected on his losses and vowed to return to Q City and kill the Compound-Eyed Zombie, while Zhu Dan ordered his group to fight the new attackers while retreating.

• Zhu Dan and the ten Superhumans from Red Water Bay defeated the little zombies on the twenty-third floor but were too exhausted to climb farther without resting.
• Shen Jin relaxed with Shang Qian, remembered how the zombie horde had taken his home and companions, and vowed to make up for lost time and return to Q City to kill every zombie, especially the Compound-Eyed Zombie.
• Shen Jin tried to call Zhao Chao but got no signal inside the mine, then spent the evening with Shang Qian.

The next morning, Zhu Dan shared his rare ham sausage with the squad, strengthening their sense that he regarded them as his own people.

• Zheng Ying iced the stairs and slowed the little zombies while Liu Yang, Zhu Dan, and the other fighters covered the team’s retreat.
• The squad killed more than thirty little zombies on the twenty-third floor, collected their small Energy Crystal Cores, and decided to camp for the night.
• Shen Jin told Shang Qian he planned to give Superhuman power to three people with good character so the base could grow strong enough to return to Q City.
• The squad woke the next morning and ate rice and vegetables warmed over their campfire.

Zhu Dan’s team fought through growing swarms of little zombies and rested after clearing a nest, while Shen Jin collected Diamonds and set out with Shang Qian to find survivors for his psychological-counseling quest. The chapter left Shen Jin outside a factory where zombies crowded the doors, preparing to approach the people inside.

• Zhu Dan’s team cleared floors 25 through 27, then retreated from a hundred little zombies on floor 28 and wiped out the nest near floor 24.
• Zheng Ying and the others exhausted much of their energy and equipment, so Zhu Dan ordered them to rest before heading back upstairs.
• Zhu Dan resolved to eliminate the little zombies to protect D City’s survivors and tallied 500 of the estimated 70,000 zombies he needed to kill.
• Shen Jin collected 419 Diamonds from the Mining Machines and learned that Shang Qian would not join his attempted morning quickie.

• Zhu Dan led the eleven Superhumans onto the twenty-ninth floor, where four little zombies dropped from the ceiling and attacked.
• The evolved zombies bit through Liu Yang's stone defenses and breached two men's Iron Armor while evading Zhu Dan's spider legs and Zheng Ying's freezing attacks.
• Zheng Ying and the others ate Compressed Special Ability Food, greatly increasing their strength and enhancing their abilities.
• Liu Yang bound one little zombie with his rubber-like body and smashed it into a crater while Zhu Dan pinned another to the wall and destroyed its head with an Ultra Spiral Beam.

Zhu Dan and the Superhuman Squad reached the thirtieth floor and discovered a giant Zombie Brood Nest producing little zombies while keeping more than a hundred men alive on its tentacles. Zhu Dan killed one man at his request, then saw a woman screaming as an egg emerged from the monster’s abdomen.

• After resting, Zhu Dan persuaded the Superhuman Squad to explore the thirtieth floor, promising to protect them with his ability.
• The group found a huge spider-octopus-like monster surrounded by colored eggs, and one egg hatched a little zombie.
• Zhu Dan tried to stop the zombie from eating a man skewered on a tentacle, but Liu Yang and Zheng Ying restrained him; the man asked to be killed, and Zhu Dan used his Rolex to end his life.
• Zhu Dan and the others discovered that the monster’s tentacles held more than a hundred living men, while no women were visible.
• Zheng Ying suspected the eggs were connected to the missing women, and a woman screamed as an egg rolled from the monster’s abdomen.

Zhu Dan led Shen Jin’s squad away from the Brood Nest Zombie, then secretly returned to fight it alone after seeing the women trapped inside. He powered himself up with compressed food and charged toward the thirtieth floor to rescue the survivors.

• Zhu Dan stopped Liu Yang, Zheng Ying, and the others from attacking the Brood Nest Zombie and led them down the building while Zheng Ying slowed its pursuing tentacles.
• The squad failed to contact Shen Jin and escorted the rescued civilians back to Red Water Bay Base, while Zhu Dan asked Liu Yang and Zheng Ying for their compressed food.
• After the others left, Zhu Dan returned to the Technology Tower and left Shen Jin a message explaining that he could not abandon the imprisoned humans.

Shen Jin found Zhu Dan’s Rolex in the workshop and gained access to its stored energy and abilities, along with a glimpse of Zhu Dan’s conviction.

• Shen Jin mined 2,842 diamonds, made Shang Qian a matching set of diamond armor and a diamond sword, then packed up their base and flew toward Red Water Bay Base.
• Shen Jin received messages reporting new, potentially Tier 3 zombie types and learned that Zhu Dan had gone ahead alone after sending the others back.
• Shen Jin and Shang Qian landed at Red Water Bay Base, where Zhao Chao told Shen Jin that the returning team had split up from Zhu Dan.

Shen Jin prepared to return to Q City and grow his forces while the Brood Nest Zombie recovered, but Zhu Dan awakened and killed it. The chapter ended with a new threat stirring in D City as the Daoist and his companions prepared to confront it.

Shen Jin’s thirty recruits awakened their Tier 1 Superhuman powers, and he examined the five unusual abilities. Wu Yong’s Mechanism Technique and Tong Zhen’s powerful Summoning Technique stood out as the group prepared for Shen Jin to assign their roles.

• Shen Jin encouraged the recruits to value how they used their abilities, and Zhao Chao tallied twenty-five strength-based powers and five special abilities.
• Wu Yong demonstrated his Mechanism Technique by building a moving stone vehicle and a flying, spike-firing wooden dragonfly.

• Shen Jin ordered the 40 Superhumans to charge, while Miao Shubai protected the team with air walls and killed an M-Type Zombie.
• Old Wu built a mobile battle fortress and crafted a tracking Tube Arrow that pierced a row of zombies’ heads.

• Li Moxiao sensed something promising, finished her noodles, and hurried Yang Ao and Fu Wei toward the place where they had started.
• Shen Jin directed his special ability users to cook, assigned the strength superhumans to clear nearby zombies, and went with Shang Qian to inspect the ruined villa.

• A beaten gatekeeper told Zhao Laoda that Southern Faction members had taken two women, and Zhao Laoda and his companions discussed the threat to their treaty and the faction's dangerous Energy Crystal Core practice.
• The gatekeeper worried that the Southern Faction would grow stronger and planned to get Xiaohua away from them.
• A lookout reported that two people who could fly were approaching Ancestor Mountain, and Shen Jin and Shang Qian arrived above the settlement.

After learning about the conflict between the settlement’s two factions, Shen Jin went with a Northern Faction guard to meet Zhao Laoda, whose discussion of traps was interrupted by someone clapping outside.
