Pei Yunfei was a prominent disciple of his generation, having ranked second on his intake’s cultivation rankings before entering the Outer Sect. He later joined the First Meridian of Hidden Sword Peak. His record includes twenty-three completed missions and the deaths of two Outer Sect disciples at his hands. The Star Picking Palace assessed him with a Seven-Star Potential Index and predicted that he could reach the Transcendent Realm within ten years 98 99.

He ordered an assassination attempt against Yang Chen through a woman who identified herself as his Dao Companion. After the mission failed, Pei learned that Fang Xue—one of his women, whom he had dispatched to Nineteen Peaks—had disappeared and was likely dead 98 102.

Pei inferred that Yang Chen must have mastered Sword Intent to defeat an opponent at Blood Martial Ninth Level. Alarmed by Yang Chen’s potential, he briefly considered apologizing and surrendering Zhou Han to end the conflict. Zhou Han persuaded him that reconciliation would fail, turning Pei back toward eliminating Yang Chen instead 103 104.

Pei Yunfei is domineering and ruthless, treating subordinates and associates as expendable when they become liabilities. He blamed Zhou Han for Fang Xue’s death and for drawing the attention of a potential future True Disciple, even considering whether to execute Zhou Han or hand him over to Yang Chen 103 104.
