Background / History

Burufatt joined the Beasts Pirates voluntarily out of admiration for Kaido’s strength. Soon after joining, he punished a pirate who had abducted civilians, publicly required Beasts Pirates members to obey local laws, and defeated the crew members who attacked him in retaliation. This established him as the crew’s second executive. 20 65

He was already an experienced cadre when Ra, Oshi, and Obe joined the crew. Though initially stern and concerned that the young newcomers would not survive pirate life, he tested Oshi himself, recognized her potential, and brought the sisters to his home to explain Devil Fruits and Haki. 21 22 23

Alongside King, Burufatt trained the sisters in Haki. Oshi’s rapid growth eventually pushed him into a serious spar, where he prevailed using his secret technique, Sea God Hammer, despite Oshi copying and improving one of his Fish-Man Karate attacks. 24 41 42 43

During the campaign for Fenrir Island, he commanded the Taurus, split his forces to meet incoming enemy fleets, defeated John Pirates executive Skypegate, and offered the defeated pirates a chance to join the Beasts Pirates. Years of combat, overwork, and drinking damaged his health. Oshi discovered that he suffered from insomnia, shortness of breath, and coughing, then forced him to rest and quit drinking. 287

Before his death, Burufatt left Oshi a recorded message expressing pride in her and urging her to live by her own convictions. He regarded himself as an ordinary Fish-Man who had been honored to share a life with Kaido, King, and the three sisters. 324
