The wormhole created by the Precursors was deep and seemingly endless, its walls lined with neatly arranged enormous cilia, like the digestive tract of some colossal creature.
At the very end of the wormhole, layers of structures resembling petals—or perhaps heart membranes—were slowly opening. A monster was swimming up toward Chen Mo from below.
The monster had not expected to encounter Jaegers inside the wormhole, much less so many of them!
But it knew no fear. It still opened its massive jaws and charged at the Giant Jaeger at the front.
Chen Mo released the monster carcass he had been holding and thrust his sword at the monster rushing toward him.
"Squelch!"
The Ion Longsword plunged straight into the monster's open mouth, piercing through its hard skull. The blade tip emerged from the back of its head, and the monster's body immediately went limp.
As though he had merely skewered an Apple, Chen Mo carried the monster on his sword and descended through the layers of opening petals below.
At Moyulan Base, Jack, Knight, and General Quan, Mako Mori, Liwen Shao, and the others in the command center all grew excited as they gazed at the faintly visible world beyond the petals.
They had never imagined that one day they would truly be able to launch a counterattack against the Precursors' world!
Mako Mori could not help recalling the first time Chen Mo had told her they would counterattack. Back then, she had not truly believed him. In her mind, even if they could one day strike back at the Precursors, it would be many years from now.
Yet in just a few short days, such a series of astonishing changes had taken place, and Chen Mo's words from that day had already come true!
