Chen Mo did not answer Star-Lord directly. Instead, he looked at him and asked,
"How much do you know about the Orb?"
Star-Lord froze for a moment, then answered honestly.
"Uh, I only know it's worth a lot of money."
As he spoke, Star-Lord took the Orb from his bag and examined it in his hand.
He had no idea why such a tiny metal sphere was worth so much.
In fact, Yondu had originally taken this job. Since Star-Lord was skilled at breaking and entering, exploring, and treasure hunting, Yondu had brought him along, and they had agreed to come search for the Orb together today.
But after learning the Orb's value, Star-Lord immediately decided to ditch Yondu and keep it all for himself!
It was not as though this was the first or second time he had betrayed Yondu.
It was that damn blue alien who had abducted him from Earth. Yondu had also been extremely strict with him since childhood, constantly threatening to eat him. Star-Lord felt no guilt whatsoever about betraying Yondu.
What Star-Lord had never considered, however, was why he had betrayed Yondu so many times and yet always emerged unscathed. Other Colonisers who betrayed Yondu had all died beneath his Yaka Arrow!
Moreover, even after Star-Lord's countless betrayals, Yondu still trusted him so much. Not only had he told him where the Orb was, but he had not even concealed the information about the middleman, The Broker.
Even so, Star-Lord still had absolutely no idea what the Orb actually was.
