Background
Peter Quill was born on Earth and was abducted by Yondu Udonta when he was eight years old. Yondu raised him among the Ravagers through harsh training and missions, but Quill never developed much loyalty to either Yondu or the crew. His early Earth memories—especially his mother May's Walkman, music tapes, and a poster of the Commander—remained his most valued possessions. 1488 1506
He grew into a capable interstellar hunter, relying on quick thinking, marksmanship, lock-picking, and a willingness to run when a fight turned unfavorable. Despite presenting himself as a seasoned galactic outlaw, his “Star-Lord” reputation was largely unknown outside his own imagination. 1483 1492
Quill avoided returning to Earth because he believed May had died and associated the planet with that loss. Chen Mo eventually revealed that May had been placed in cryo-stasis rather than dying. Quill reunited with her after twenty-six years, remained until her health recovered, then returned to space to continue his work with the Guardians. 1558
Appearance
Following his Super Soldier Serum enhancement, Quill becomes taller, leaner, and far more muscular. His facial contours sharpen, his jawline becomes more defined, and his features become noticeably more refined. 1532
- Usually wears a red leather Ravager trench coat. 1479
- Uses a transforming helmet for combat, flight, and short-term survival in space. 1525 1554
- Carries a pair of energy pistols and leg-mounted boosters. 1483 1484
- His formerly fitted clothing becomes too small after the serum changes his height and build. 1532
Personality
Quill is boastful, flirtatious, and highly protective of the “Star-Lord” name, even when no one recognizes it. He frequently tries to impress others with his Earth references, charm, or supposed reputation, but his confidence often exceeds his actual standing. 1483 1500 1541
Initially, he is opportunistic and possessive of valuable targets such as the Orb. He attempts to abandon Chen Mo on Morag and repeatedly plans to profit from the Power Stone, but his priorities shift as he faces Ronan and Thanos. 1484 1492
Beneath his greed and bravado, Quill is deeply attached to Earth, his mother, and his companions. He risks his life to save Gamora in open space, defies danger to protect his mother’s Walkman, and grows into someone willing to help defend Xandar and the galaxy. 1512 1554 1556
Abilities & Skills
Celestial Physiology and Divine Power
Quill's Celestial heritage gives him unusual physical resilience and the potential to handle energies fatal to ordinary beings.
- Possesses half-Celestial blood through Ego. 1490 1557
- Can survive impacts that would seriously injure an ordinary human. 1490
- Helps the Guardians seize and control the Power Stone long enough to defeat Ronan. 1557
- Learns to gather and create his own divine power after discovering Ego withheld that knowledge from him. 1559
- Initially lacks the power to safely wield an Infinity Stone alone for an extended period. 1490
Super Soldier Physiology
Chen Mo enhances Quill with the strongest version of the Super Soldier Serum.
- Gains physical qualities approximately six times those of a normal person. 1531
- Develops superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and reaction time. 1532 1533
- Defeats Rocket Raccoon and Gamora in arm-wrestling contests after enhancement. 1535 1536
- Can briefly contend with Drax in strength, but is ultimately overpowered. 1536
- Endures the painful enhancement process without crying out, demonstrating exceptional willpower. 1532
Marksmanship and Combat
Before his enhancement, Quill compensates for comparatively weak physical abilities with ranged weapons and improvisation.
- Skilled with dual energy pistols. 1483
- Uses quick reactions and evasive movement to escape armed opponents. 1483 1484
- Lacks refined close-quarters skill compared with Gamora, despite his improved physical ability. 1533
- Begins training in hand-to-hand combat under Gamora after receiving the serum. 1539
Piloting and Mobility
Quill pilots the Milano and uses portable boosters for maneuvering.
- Uses leg boosters for jumps, short bursts of flight, and zero-gravity travel. 1484 1525
- His boosters have limited power and cannot sustain long atmospheric flight. 1484
- Can operate the Milano, though his reckless flying nearly causes a crash until Chen Mo stabilizes the ship. 1485
- His helmet and equipment permit only short exposure to space; cold and radiation rapidly impair him. 1525
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Milano — Quill's small-to-medium interstellar spacecraft and primary transport. 1484 1507
- Dual energy pistols — His principal ranged weapons. 1483
- Transforming helmet — Provides oxygen and environmental protection during short space exposure. 1525 1554
- Leg boosters — Allow limited aerial movement and zero-gravity flight. 1484 1525

- Gamora — Initially an enemy competing for the Orb, later a trusted teammate and growing romantic interest. Quill repeatedly risks himself to protect her, including rescuing her in space. 1515 1517 1554
- Yondu Udonta — Abductor, adoptive father figure, and former Ravager leader. Yondu's harsh upbringing leaves Quill resentful, though Yondu remains concerned for him. 1492 1506

- Groot — Teammate who initially helps protect Quill in Kyln Prison and participates in the prison escape. 1515 1518
- Drax the Destroyer — Teammate whose bluntness frustrates Quill. Drax saves him from a guard drone during the Kyln escape. 1520
- May — Quill's mother. Believed dead for decades, she is found alive in cryo-stasis; their reunion motivates Quill to reconnect with Earth. 1558
- Ego — Quill's biological father. Ego teaches him to shape divine power while hiding how to generate it, leading Quill to oppose him. 1559
