Background / History

Tang Yuehua was the sister of Clear Sky Sect Master Tang Xiao and the younger sister of Tang Hao. Though an ordinary person unable to cultivate Soul Power, she became the Clear Sky Sect’s primary representative in Heaven Dou City. As mistress of Moonlight Pavilion, she used her etiquette, musical instruction, social standing, charm, and connections to maintain the sect’s external affairs while it remained secluded. Her work helped the sect obtain resources and avoid much of the pressure surrounding it. 179 232

Moonlight Pavilion was once a prominent establishment where princes, princesses, and noble children studied etiquette and musical instruments. Tang Yuehua’s martial soul and zither music could soothe emotions and disperse negative states; she previously helped Tang Hao control the killing intent he carried after leaving Slaughter City, at the cost of considerable Essence Blood. 384 520 532

She was once a close friend of Ye Qingxian and initially treated Lin Xiao warmly, inviting him freely into her private quarters at Moonlight Pavilion. However, she also relied on her friendship with Ye Qingxian to obtain discounted medicinal materials, medicinal cuisine, whale rubber, and prescriptions for the Clear Sky Sect. 179 202 234

Appearance

Tang Yuehua was known as a refined, beautiful noblewoman whose palace dress, cosmetics, and cultivated poise projected elegance and intellectual charm. She maintained her appearance carefully, but her status as an ordinary person made aging a profound insecurity. 233 234 384

  • Fair, well-maintained skin even past forty, though she later notices fine lines around her eyes. 234
  • Frequently wears palace dresses, hair ornaments, rouge, and heavy makeup. 232 234 384
  • After prolonged stress, her hair develops gray streaks and her face becomes visibly haggard and wrinkled. 460
  • Later adopts plain clothing, an aged appearance, and no cosmetics beyond makeup intended to make her look older. 532 577

Personality

Tang Yuehua is intelligent, socially adept, and capable of navigating noble circles. She understands political leverage, logistics, public reputation, and the value of alliances, repeatedly trying to preserve the Clear Sky Sect through negotiations, resources, and carefully constructed public narratives. 179 232 388 398

Her greatest weakness is her fixation on status, youth, validation, and proving her worth to the Clear Sky Sect. She frequently tries to influence others through vulnerability, intimacy, or emotional pressure, particularly Lin Xiao. When her methods fail, she becomes humiliated, insecure, and deeply affected by perceived rejection. 232 233 234 407

Despite her manipulation and opportunism, she remains sincerely attached to her family and sect. She repeatedly tries to prevent Tang San and Tang Xiao from leading the Clear Sky Sect toward destruction, even after both dismiss or exploit her. Over time, repeated betrayals and losses force her to accept that she must preserve herself rather than endlessly serve the sect. 398 404 411 460

Story Role / Major Arcs

Moonlight Pavilion and the Break with Lin Xiao

Tang Yuehua initially tries to draw Lin Xiao into assisting with the Clear Sky Sect’s problems, withholding key information about Tang Hao and the Elder Council’s treatment of her. 179

After the Strength Clan pledges itself to Lin Xiao and kills Clear Sky Sect informants, she has Lin Xiao tailed and confronts him at Moonlight Pavilion. Her attempt to use her status, connection to Ye Qingxian, and personal charm fails; Lin Xiao openly challenges her authority and calls her an “old woman.” 232 233

Ye Qingxian cuts off their relationship and ends the Clear Sky Sect’s access to her medicinal herbs. The loss of Ye Qingxian’s support and Lin Xiao’s hostility contributes to Moonlight Pavilion’s decline. 234 240 243

Moonlight Pavilion’s Collapse

The Clear Sky Sect secretly sends Tang Feng to target Lin Xiao without informing Tang Yuehua. Feeling betrayed and exhausted by the sect’s disregard for her, she resolves to help it one final time before resigning. 241

Moonlight Pavilion is attacked, its personnel suffer heavy losses, and its intelligence network is devastated. Tang Yuehua becomes increasingly fearful that Lin Xiao is the hidden force dismantling both her organization and the Clear Sky Sect. 241 243

Recognition of Tang San

Tang San and Yu Xiaogang come to Moonlight Pavilion, where Tang Yuehua learns that Tang San is Tang Hao’s son. She is devastated to learn of Tang Hao’s death and initially sees Tang San as a potential means to restore the Clear Sky Sect. 384

She develops a plan to use Tang San’s identity and potential to gain imperial support, then seeks to separate the sect’s reputation from Tang Chen’s identity as the Slaughter King. 388 392 398

Conflict with Tang San

Tang Yuehua opposes Tang San’s desire to rely on Tang Chen and Slaughter City, warning him to protect his reputation and avoid irreversible choices. Tang San dismisses her as an ordinary person with no understanding of Soul Master affairs, while the Shrek group mocks her. 398

When she tries again to stop him from entering Slaughter City, Tang San threatens her and slaps her hard enough to severely injure and potentially permanently disfigure her face. She subsequently declares that she will wash her hands of him. 404 405

Alliance with Lin Xiao and Ye Qingxian

Desperate to repair her face and save the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Yuehua humbles herself before Ye Qingxian. Ye Qingxian agrees to treat her after learning that she possesses important information concerning Lin Xiao and the continent. 405 406

Tang Yuehua offers Lin Xiao intelligence on rare items, the Phoenix Bone, a Soul Tool, and a secret passage into the Clear Sky Sect. She is compelled to hand over assistance first and sever ties with Tang San and Tang Chen’s faction without receiving a guaranteed promise in return. 406 407

After Lin Xiao’s operation at the Clear Sky Sect, she cannot safely return to Moonlight Pavilion and remains at the Ye Residence. She later provides Lin Xiao and Ye Qingxian with intelligence about the sect’s plans. 409 411 412

Departure and Preservation of the Remnants

Tang Yuehua eventually flees Heaven Dou City and travels to Star Luo City to confront Tang Xiao. She urges him to withdraw from the struggle for the Star Luo throne and preserve the remaining Clear Sky bloodline instead of gambling everything on the sect’s revival. 428 459 460

Tang Xiao entrusts nine elderly, weak, and disabled Clear Sky Sect survivors to her. Tang Yuehua leaves the Star Luo Empire with them and does not return. 460 461

Seclusion as Granny Yue

Learning that Tang San is searching for her emotional-purification ability, Tang Yuehua refuses to help him. She changes her name and appearance, declaring that “Tang Yuehua” is dead and adopting the identity of Granny Yue. 526 532

She disguises herself as an elderly woman and lives quietly with the surviving former Clear Sky Sect members, who adopt the surname Tan. Even when Lin Xiao’s accomplishments alter her view of him, she remains committed to withdrawing from worldly conflicts. 532 577

Investment in Phoenix Pavilion

Despite her seclusion, Tang Yuehua later reveals that remnants of the Clear Sky Sect’s accumulated wealth remain hidden. She chooses to invest those resources in Ye Qingxian’s side and Phoenix Pavilion, viewing it as a final gamble amid the continent’s crisis. 626

Trivia

  • Tang Yuehua is an ordinary person rather than a Soul Master, a fact repeatedly used by others to diminish her authority despite her extensive political and logistical contributions. 179 233 398
  • She is particularly sensitive about aging and reacts intensely when Lin Xiao calls her an “old woman.” 232 233 234
  • Before her fall from influence, she was known for making suggestive jokes more freely than some married women. 108
  • Her later aged appearance is partly deliberate: she uses makeup not to conceal age, but to deepen it and conceal her identity. 532
