Aburame Tetsumaru built his insect forces, conquered Kirigakure, and expanded his projects into space while preparing to leave the Shinobi World. The volume ended with an Otsutsuki fleet approaching Purple Thunder Star and Tetsumaru sending an envoy to make contact.

Arc 5The Mushroom Insect War

Aburame Tetsumaru moved his research to the Land of Tea, where he developed giant insects and a devastating weapon while fighting for Konoha. After his Mushroom Insects helped turn the war against Iwagakure, the Dan-no-Ura Treaty ended the conflict without restricting the defeated villages’ military development.

  • Konoha established the Giant Insect Squadron and Ranch as Tetsumaru developed the Many-headed Slime Mold into Creep and built an oceanic Mother Hive in the Land of Tea.
  • Tetsumaru began communicating with Otsutsuki Kaguya, developed the Wind Giant Insect, and reinforced Konoha’s northeastern front against the Raikage.
  • Tetsumaru helped drive back the Raikage, became a Jonin, and persuaded Sarutobi Hiruzen to let him settle in the Land of Tea for his research.

Arc 6The Lunar War and Kakuzu

Aburame Tetsumaru built his insect forces and fought the Otsutsuki Clan for control of the moon, then returned to Konoha and became entangled in a mission that brought him into conflict with Kakuzu. The arc ended with Tetsumaru’s group preparing to leave the Shinobi World and considering whether Kakuzu might join them.

  • Aburame Tetsumaru returned to the Land of Tea, defeated Root Ninja sent after him, and advanced projects including Bio-Armor, the Mother Hive, and the Avatar Project.
  • After a reckless encounter with Kirigakure shinobi, Aburame Tetsumaru tracked down Shennong, destroyed the Sky Village, and united his Shadow Clones around a plan to reach the moon.
  • Aburame Tetsumaru and the Otsutsuki Clan fought a costly war in orbit and on the moon, until his forces used Mushroom Bombs to compel the clan’s unconditional surrender.

Arc 7The Insect War

Aburame Tetsumaru expanded his insect network into space and the Land of Water, then defeated Kirigakure and killed Shimura Danzō. The arc left Kirigakure’s leaders attempting a westward breakout while Tetsumaru continued building his forces and pursuing Impure World Reincarnation.

  • Aburame Tetsumaru showed Kakuzu the purple insect world and its space facilities, while another Tetsumaru continued researching Namikaze Minato’s Flying Thunder God Technique.
  • Aburame Tetsumaru’s first spaceship reached Purple Thunder Star, where Dice landed and the explorers found a dead God Tree that confirmed the Otsutsuki had visited.
  • Aburame Tetsumaru developed an improved Flying Thunder God Technique, recruited Uchiha Sanae, Uchiha Itachi, and Uchiha Qian for his systems, and built Mother Hives across the sea and underground.

Arc 8The Otsutsuki Fleet

Aburame Tetsumaru conquered Kirigakure, advanced his Senjutsu and Avatar projects, and expanded his forces into space. The arc ended with an Otsutsuki fleet nearing Purple Thunder Star as Tetsumaru sent an envoy to make contact.

  • Aburame Tetsumaru’s forces broke Kirigakure’s escape with insects and meteors, and the Mizukage died after shielding the Kiri Ninja from Uchiha Madara’s attack.
  • Aburame Tetsumaru reorganized Kirigakure, then joined Orochimaru’s campaign against the scattered Kiri Ninja and helped Might Duy defeat members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.
