Those words were harsh. While condemning the Human Path, they were also telling Vast Heaven: You did not even intervene in such a matter—"Above, it answered Heaven. Whose fault was it? Alas!"

Whose fault? Yours, Vast Heaven. Why did you not intervene? Your impartial treatment of all things had directly led to the rise of the Human Path. The harm the Human Path had done to heaven, earth, nature, and the Primal Gods all stemmed from your standing idly by.

Those words could be called monstrously rebellious. Li Qi had indeed hesitated for a while, but after thinking it over, just as the earlier sacrificial text had said...

"It is said that only virtue moves Heaven, and only sincerity touches the gods. What is sincere within must take form without; it cannot be concealed."

Then he would say whatever needed to be said.

However, after saying all that, the latter half of Li Qi's sacrificial text abruptly changed direction as he continued:

"The Human Path's deceitful heart, its unruly bearing, and its hidden designs were not matters of a single day. Its momentum has already formed; the strength of the heavenly gods cannot reach it. Though there be valiant troops and fierce generals, success in haste is difficult. Moreover, the nature of the people of the land is fickle in rebellion and submission. One must remember the weight of the charge entrusted to this place, carefully judge the situation and measure its sentiments, value righteousness lightly over profit—dare I beg Imperial Heaven to issue an order, to grant the office of Heavenly General, that Heavenly Punishment may be righteous in name, and bestow upon us the authority of Heavenly Punishment to punish Tang."

"I beseech the heavenly gods to judge by great righteousness. You must never hesitate in fox-like doubt,
