Background / History

Tang Hao lived in seclusion in Holy Soul Village as a disheveled blacksmith and raised Tang San. After Tang San revealed his Twin Martial Souls, Tang Hao immediately became protective of the secret and agreed to send him to Notting Junior Spirit Academy. Learning that Zhu Rong had witnessed the awakening and possessed Innate Full Soul Power with a Mutated Sword Martial Soul, Tang Hao initially decided Zhu Rong had to be eliminated. 2

Zhu Rong thwarted this plan by revealing a Clear Sky Hammer Martial Soul, leading Tang Hao to conclude that he was a Twin Martial Soul user and a lost descendant of the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Hao subsequently placed Zhu Rong's potential—and the prospect of the sect's revival—above Tang San's, deciding that Tang San must never kill him. 2 4

Zhu Rong later hired Tang Hao for ten Gold Soul Coins to obtain his first spirit ring. Tang Hao accompanied him into the nearby Soul Hunting Forest, guarded him, instructed him on survival, and sought an appropriate soul beast despite struggling to determine what ring would suit Zhu Rong's unusual ranged sword Martial Soul. 12 14 17

During the expedition, Tang Hao killed two Soul Elders who were poaching soul bones, gave Zhu Rong a Storage Soul Tool, and killed a four-hundred-year Mandala Snake. He reserved the snake's complete torso soul bone for Tang San rather than Zhu Rong, considering it too low-grade for the latter. 15 19

After nearly a year, Tang Hao appeared before Zhu Rong in a dramatically changed state. He fulfilled a promise ahead of schedule by giving Zhu Rong Ah Yin's soul bone and an additional sealed item meant to be opened only after reaching Title Douluo. He also entrusted Zhu Rong with a gray bead, then abruptly departed the village. 63 64

Appearance

Tang Hao initially presents himself as a slovenly, exhausted village blacksmith. Following an unspecified fortuitous encounter, he adopts a markedly more imposing appearance. 12 63

His strongest loyalty is to the Clear Sky Sect. Once he believes Zhu Rong is a sect descendant with superior talent, Tang Hao tolerates Zhu Rong repeatedly humiliating Tang San and views Zhu Rong as the sect's path to resurgence. 4 10

Despite this harshness, Tang Hao acts as a practical guardian. He teaches Zhu Rong forest awareness, provides Tang San with soul bones and guidance, and privately worries about both boys' futures. 21 27 44
