Tang San represents Shrek Academy after its victory in the Continental Elite Tournament. When Bibi Dong attempts to recruit him, he refuses because of Spirit Hall's role in his mother's death and his family's persecution. 2 3

Xu Yu reveals that Xiao Wu is a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast, making her a target for Spirit Hall. Tang San attempts to save her when two Titled Douluo move to capture her, but cannot stop them. Tang Hao later storms Spirit Hall and escapes with Tang San. 3 5

Flight to Star Luo

While hunted by Spirit Hall, Tang San travels with Tang Hao. The pair considers fleeing by sea and circling toward the Star Luo Empire, where Tang San intends to serve and eventually seek Xiao Wu's rescue. 48 64

After roughly two and a half years, Tang San enters the City of Slaughter under the alias Tang Yin. He rejects Black Silk's advice to remain in the outer city, proceeds directly into the inner city, and condemns Spirit Hall for tolerating its brutality. 130 131

Tang San rapidly gains victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena and reaches Soul King. Xu Yu abducts and imprisons him as bait for the King of Slaughter, but Tang San escapes while Xu Yu is occupied with Tang Chen's awakening. 136 138 163

Alliance Against Spirit Hall

In Heaven Dou City, Tang San seeks allies to rescue Xiao Wu from Spirit Hall. Ning Fengzhi agrees to aid him on the condition that Tang San marry Ning Rongrong, creating a marriage alliance between the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the Clear Sky Sect. Tang San refuses the marriage arrangement but secures the sect's support through his promise of Hidden Weapons. 191

Tang San also gains support from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, the Four Single-Attribute Clans, the Star Luo Empire, and the Clear Sky Sect. He becomes the Clear Sky Sect's chief disciple after defeating Tang Long. 191 202

The allied operation succeeds in rescuing Xiao Wu from Spirit City. Tang San reunites with her and joins the allied forces in planning resistance to Spirit Hall. 202

Collapse of the Tang Sect

Spirit Hall's offensive devastates the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, weakening Tang San's allies. The Tang Sect is subsequently infiltrated, its Hidden Weapons and techniques are stolen, and many disciples are killed or scattered. 234 242

During the escape from Heaven Dou City, the Four Single-Attribute Clan heads betray Tang San and divide Xiao Wu among themselves in pursuit of her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Bone. Tang San later finds Xiao Wu's mutilated body, responds with grief and rage, and attacks anyone obstructing him with the Eight Spider Lances. 242 244

Later-Era Divine Sense

In a later Shrek Academy incident, Xu Yu finds Tang San's Divine Sense concealed within Wang Dong and refines it into energy. Although the fragment is lost, Tang San's main body is explicitly described as still existing. 257

Tang San is described as a handsome youth whose immature appearance contrasts with eyes carrying unusual weariness and maturity. While in the City of Slaughter, he changes his appearance and operates under the name Tang Yin. 132 190
