Xiao Wu is a transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast whose true identity is immediately recognized by Xiao Yan. At the time, she has just obtained enrollment credentials and is wary of Li Tianlan's attention. After he promises to protect her, she agrees to cultivate alongside him. 2

Having only recently arrived in Nuoding City and lacking a place to live, Xiao Wu accepts Li Tianlan's invitation to stay at his home. Their shared meals, conversations, and cultivation establish a close bond before she leaves for Nuoding Academy as a work-study student. 3 4

When Li Tianlan leaves Nuoding City to cultivate, Xiao Wu worries for his safety, promises to wait for him, and later writes that she has moved into a private dormitory and avoided close contact with boys as requested. 6 13
