Seamus held his quill and scribbled absentmindedly. It was not until he nearly smudged his completed Transfiguration homework that he suddenly snapped out of it. He hurriedly put away the assignments for each subject, slipped his quill and ink into his pocket, and got up to leave the Library.

The walk from the Library back to Gryffindor Tower should have taken only a few minutes, but it took him nearly half an hour. Sir Cadogan led him astray onto a spiral staircase halfway through, making him go around several extra times.

Back in the Common Room, he sat down on the sofa in a daze and slowly drifted off to sleep.

The logs in the fireplace burned quietly, occasionally crackling softly. The sound entered his mind and gradually sketched out a dream.
