Background / History

Ron is part of the large Weasley family, whose members are recognizable for their red hair. Growing up among high-achieving siblings left him sensitive about his own worth, particularly because many of his belongings—including clothes, textbooks, wand, and pet—were hand-me-downs. His old wand severely hindered his early spellcasting, and he tried to hide the resulting embarrassment behind jokes and mischief 47.

His pet rat Scabbers was exposed as Peter Pettigrew, an Animagus and former Death Eater who had lived with the Weasleys for over a decade. Ron was devastated by the betrayal, struggling with memories of having cared for and slept beside the rat 19 40.
