Background / History
The sect was founded by descendants of the Great Zhou Grand Ancestor whose branch was allegedly denied the throne after Prince Liang overthrew and killed the designated Crown Prince. This dispossessed lineage preserved a generational obsession with reclaiming the imperial throne, giving the sect its enduring anti-Great Zhou cause 631.
Over time, its political ambition became inseparable from its worship of Wusheng Laomu. Sect Leader Zhou Tianxing regarded rebellion as a means to weaken Great Zhou’s national fortune, destabilize the Xuanhuang World’s Heavenly Dao, and earn blessings from the Outer Realm Evil God 634. Wusheng Laomu, in turn, cultivated the sect as an internal force that could obstruct Lin Changqing’s Heaven Mending Plan and prepare the way for an Outer Realm invasion 631.
The White Lotus Sect survived repeated imperial crackdowns across countless years. Even after being crippled or seemingly exterminated, it repeatedly rebuilt itself, at times nearly succeeding in rebellion; this resilience made it Great Zhou’s foremost heretical target 632.
Organization and Operations
- The sect’s core was composed overwhelmingly of Demonized Warriors; Gu Chensha stated that roughly ninety percent of its core members were demonized 75.
- Its known hierarchy included Inner Disciples, Branch Masters, Altar Masters, Elders, Supreme Elders, and Quasi-Saint Great Powers 133 143 197 631.
- Tang Yu, an Inner Disciple, attempted to recruit Lin Changqing under threat of retaliation; Branch Master Li Kuishan later made a similar offer 133 143.
- The sect maintained branch altars and concealed strongholds throughout Great Zhou, including underground bases in Yunzhou and a major branch embedded inside Flying Bear Peak 406 422 500.
- Its main altar was effectively an independent kingdom with a population of at least one million elite members and layered arrays and restrictions 633.
- The sect infiltrated hostile institutions; its members discussed activating a mole within the Demon Suppression Division if Lin Changqing remained in seclusion too long 285.
- It conspired with local powers such as the Yu Family to undermine Canglan County and fielded multiple Void Refining Realm cultivators in the operation 268 269.
Doctrine and Practices
- White lotus marks were used to identify members; Lin Changqing confirmed an old beggar’s affiliation through a white lotus mark on his chest 70.
- The sect used murder, heart extraction, and other brutal methods for cultivation and recovery, actions Lin Changqing compared to those of fiends 70.
- It collected blood to refine the Myriad Blood Pill and conducted blood-offering rituals before statues of Wusheng Laomu 144 406.
- Yunzhou worshipers cut their wrists and poured blood into a pool beneath Wusheng Laomu’s statue while reciting prayers to the deity 406.
- Its Yunzhou Altar Master sought to ignite war across the province, creating an opening for the sect to exploit 422.
- The sect issued a White Lotus Kill Order against Lin Changqing, offering a White Lotus Treasure Pill for his death 330.
“Wusheng Laomu, the homeland of true emptiness, the gods are with us...” 406
Assets and Secret Methods
- White Lotus Treasure Pill — A high-grade Innate Treasure Pill unique to the sect. It could improve a Life and Death Realm cultivator’s comprehension of life and death, help a peak Void Refining Realm cultivator enter the Life and Death Realm, or increase a Life and Death Realm expert’s chance of reaching the Heavenly Man Realm 330.
- Blood Curse — A sinister curse used by surviving members after defeat. The Blood Curse encountered by Lin Changqing could sense targets within roughly five hundred li 199.
- Geng Metal Sword Array — A defensive sword array deployed at a secret base beneath Li Family Fort 199.
- White Lotus Escape — A secret escape art and Forbidden Artifact available only to the sect’s upper ranks. It borrowed Wusheng Laomu’s power to transport members away as flowing light 555.
- White Lotus Sacred Image — A statue of Wusheng Laomu capable of producing a gate of transference beyond Great Zhou’s borders 635.
- White Lotus Holy Light — A trump card containing a Saint-realm will incarnation of Wusheng Laomu. Its radiance dissolved attacks and grievously injured Great Zhou’s experts 637.

- Lu Wu — An ancient puppet with Half-step Saint battle power, awakened by Zhou Tianxing during the battle for the main altar 638.
Relationships
- Wusheng Laomu — Outer Realm Evil God worshiped as the sect’s divine patron; her will incarnation and power supplied the sect’s greatest trump cards 555 637.
- Great Zhou Dynasty — Primary enemy. The sect’s ruling lineage claimed the current imperial family stole its rightful throne, while Great Zhou treated the sect as its most dangerous rebel force 631 632.
- Demon Suppression Division — Persistent opponent that regarded the sect’s destruction as a major merit and joined the campaign against its main altar 256 632.
- Eternal Life Alliance — Frequent co-conspirator and ally of convenience; both factions suffered major losses in Dafeng Prefecture and later jointly sought Lin Changqing’s death 330 449.
