Background / History
Mo Yu is the ninth-generation Giant Son of the Mohist School. Though six contemporary Giant Sons exist, he alone holds final authority over the organization. He publicly appears as an elegant youth of eighteen or nineteen, but his true biological body has aged; his living brain remotely operates younger cloned bodies through Mohist neural technology 625 741.
Before openly confronting Liu Di, Mo Yu led the Mohist School’s defense of San Zhi Po. He used the Dragon Confinement Array and Ice Coffin Formation to restrain what he believed was Liu Di, only to discover that he had trapped a Mechanical Clone instead. Liu Di reversed the terrain and reduced the triumphant Giant Son to standing beneath him 625.
Mo Yu’s rivalry with Liu Di gradually became a volatile partnership. He assisted with research into Liu Zhengqing’s consciousness-particle technology, while attempting to conceal the Mohist School’s own core technologies. Their exchanges repeatedly shifted between mutual technical respect, taunts, coercion, and reluctant trust 635 691 741 742.
Appearance
Mo Yu’s active bodies resemble a refined young scholar rather than the leader of a technologically dominant hidden organization. He commonly wears pristine white classical Mohist robes and keeps his hands tucked inside his wide sleeves 624 625.
- Appears to be about eighteen or nineteen years old in his public clone bodies 625.
- Has long hair, often tied back, and a delicate, youthful face 815 1102.
- Usually wears white robes and spotless white cloth shoes 625.
- Maintains a composed smile and master-like bearing when addressing disciples or rivals 624 625.
- His original body is physically aged, while his brain remains alive and controls clones remotely 741.
Personality
Mo Yu is proud, theatrical, and intensely competitive. He struggles to admit inferiority to Liu Di even when faced with overwhelming evidence, frequently masking embarrassment with boasts, technical jargon, or elaborate provocations 630 635 659.
He is also deeply curious and opportunistic. Mo Yu repeatedly spies on Liu Di’s research, tries to obtain samples of Liu Di’s DNA, and pursues technology that could overcome or replicate Liu Di’s advantages 683 691 1001.
Despite his selfishness and habit of feigning death, Mo Yu takes the Mohist School’s survival seriously. When threatened by the Time Group, he urges his disciples to prioritize technological development over revenge and to preserve the school’s legacy beyond his own life 1109.
Abilities & Skills
Clone-Body Control
Mo Yu’s primary means of survival is a network of cloned bodies controlled by his living brain.
- Uses a Spinal Interface to stimulate clone-body nerves and reproduce natural movement 741.
- His active bodies retain his memories and consciousness through signals transmitted from his original brain 741.
- His first successfully cloned and modified body possesses C-Class cyborg strength 745.
- Maintained at least 235 clones beneath Weishan Lake at one point 735.
- Later reveals a hidden reserve of 2,500 cultivation-pod bodies 1110.
- Deploys as many as 30,000 clones during the battle against the Red 141 Star People 1269.
Mohist Neural Science
Mo Yu possesses extensive knowledge of the Mohist School’s brain-mapping research and uses it to control bodies remotely.
- States that the Mohist School spent more than a century identifying the functions and signals of individual neurons 742.
- Uses this knowledge to interpret neural commands and transmit them to clone bodies 741 742.
- Strengthened research into brain preservation, cloning, and consciousness transfer to secure his continued existence 735 741.
Mohist Technology Command
As Giant Son, Mo Yu directs the Mohist School’s advanced weapons, formations, and mechanized forces.
- Commands the Mozi Mecha, whose Carved Stone liquid-metal armor can self-repair after damage 627.
- Uses a blue shield on the Mozi Mecha to block Liu Di’s metal-control consciousness 627.
- Deploys the Mechanical Qilin and Mechanical Dragon through void teleportation to overwhelm opponents 627.
- Calls in transport aircraft, plasma-shield-equipped disciples, and laser-weapon squads through his so-called “Disciple Summoning Technique” 691.
- Commands the Mohist School’s defensive formations, including the Dragon Confinement Array and Ice Coffin Formation 625.
Scientific Deduction
Mo Yu is a capable researcher with a particular focus on exotic energy and consciousness technology.
- Correctly identifies the “haunted” mountain house as magnetic imaging recorded on metal walls and projected by lightning 686.
- Spent eight years studying a consciousness-particle device, though he could only extract a limited light-shield technology from it 637.
- Determines that conventional nuclear, solar, chemical, and biological energy sources cannot sustain the device’s unusual energy requirements 637.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Mozi Mecha — Self-repairing Carved Stone combat mecha with kinetic-energy recovery and anti-consciousness shielding 627.
- Mechanical Qilin and Mechanical Dragon — Colossal support mechas summoned to assist the Mozi Mecha 627.
- Spinal Interface — Remote-control system linking Mo Yu’s living brain to clone bodies 741.
- Mohist transport aircraft — Deploys large numbers of armed Mohist disciples rapidly 691.
- Clone cultivation pods — Stores reserve bodies for replacement and long-term survival 735 1110.
Relationships
- Liu Di — Initially an adversary during the Battle of San Zhi Po, then an uneasy research partner and friend. Their relationship changes further when Liu Di is revealed to be Mo Yu’s lost Clone No. 2, making Mo Yu his biological creator and acknowledged father 625 691 742 1254.
- Mo Jiuli — Core Mohist disciple, assistant, and confidant. Mo Jiuli manages Mo Yu’s affairs, supports him during crises, and remains beside him during his apparent death 691 741 1110.
- Shui'er — A child under Mo Yu’s protection. Mo Yu accepts responsibility for her actions and leaves with her to prevent accusations from harming her and the Mohist School 653 654.
- Mohist disciples — Mo Yu’s subordinates and the foundation of his authority. They address him as “Master Giant Son” and follow his technological and military orders 625 691.
- The seven Brain Realm City Lords — Seven sentient Mo Yu clones who became City Lords within the Brain Realm and resent being treated as disposable vessels 815 816 838.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Battle of San Zhi Po
Mo Yu unveils himself as the Ninth Generation Giant Son after the Mohist School traps Liu Di with the Dragon Confinement Array and Ice Coffin Formation. His apparent victory collapses when Liu Di reveals that the captive was a Mechanical Clone and overturns their positions through sand manipulation 624 625.
Mo Yu escalates the battle with the Mozi Mecha, its anti-consciousness shield, and two colossal support mechas. He ultimately admits defeat after Liu Di overcomes the Mohist School’s defenses 627 630.
Consciousness-Particle Research
Mo Yu brings Liu Zhengqing’s device to Liu Di and reveals the Mohist School’s long failure to power it. The device consumes four years of a hydroelectric station’s stored energy in 2.3 seconds, exposing the need for an unknown particle-like energy source 637.
He later reveals the Mohist School’s cloning and brain-command technology under pressure from Liu Di and Song Yu, establishing the mechanism behind his apparent youth and repeated survivals 741 742.
Clone Secrets and the Brain Realm
Mo Yu’s hidden Weishan Lake base is revealed to contain hundreds of clone bodies and the preserved brain of a previous Giant Son 735. Liu Di subsequently enters the Brain Realm and encounters seven of Mo Yu’s clones, who exist there as City Lords and describe themselves as discarded puppets 815 816.
After Liu Di returns, he tells Mo Yu about meeting the clones and offers to take him to see them, exposing Mo Yu’s vulnerability beneath his usual arrogance 838.
The Non-Fate Plan
Driven by resentment toward Liu Di, Mo Yu launches the Non-Fate Plan to cultivate a clone from Liu Di’s DNA. The first accelerated clone becomes a monstrous failure; the healthier second clone is stolen from its pod by a future version of Liu Di 1001.
The truth later emerges: Liu Di is that second clone, sent into the past as an infant and eventually raised by Liu Zhengqing. A genetic ink mark labeled “2” confirms Liu Di’s origin 1254.
Apparent Death and Lunar Survival
After being attacked by the Time Group, Mo Yu is mortally wounded and performs a solemn farewell for his disciples. He reaches the Mohist ancestral shrine, where he reveals his reserve of 2,500 clone bodies and survives by transferring into another body 1109 1110.
He is later presumed dead again during the Red 141 Star People conflict, but Liu Di finds him alive in hiding at a lunar base. Mo Yu had remained there alone because he considered it exceptionally safe 1274 1284.
Notable Quotes
“If I, Mo Yu, am a disgrace to the Mohist school, then simply erase me from history.” 1109
“Our Mohist school’s next move must be astonishing!” 1110
