Background / History
Medusa lives on the Invisible Island with her elder sisters, Stheno and Euryale. The sisters raise Moran after he arrives on the island, and Medusa becomes especially close to him through their shared duties, including fighting monsters and repelling heroes who come to hunt the sisters. Although Stheno frequently orders and teases her, Medusa remains unable to openly defy her eldest sister. 3
Medusa has deep insecurity about her tall stature and appearance, having internalized Stheno and Euryale's comparisons. After Moran drinks her blood, he perceives her emotions through their connection and reassures her that he considers her gentle, dignified, and beautiful. They confess their love and vow eternal companionship. 4 5
Her blood contains both divinity and demonic nature. Repeated attacks by heroes and the killing required to defend the island steadily worsen her demonic corruption; if she can no longer suppress it, she transforms into Gorgon. 5
First Simulation: Fall into Gorgon
While Moran leaves the island to build a heroic reputation capable of clearing the sisters' names, Medusa's condition continues to deteriorate. Nine years later, he returns to find the island overrun by demonic beasts and Medusa transformed into a colossal, maddened Gorgon amid the corpses of heroes who came to kill her. 14 16
Moran's Petrifying Magic Eye neutralizes Medusa's when they clash, but he refuses to kill her despite being fatally wounded by her snake hair. Consuming Moran's blood temporarily restores Medusa's sanity, leaving her horrified that she injured the person she loved. 16 17
Moran uses a magic disk created through his research with Medea to suppress Medusa's demonic nature, at the cost of his own life. Medusa desperately offers her blood in an attempt to save him, but he insists on completing the sacrifice. 18
Second Simulation: Return of the Mother Goddess
In the second simulation, Moran remains on the Invisible Island and defeats visiting heroes without slaughtering them. This prevents Medusa's demonic factors from activating and exposes the false image of the Gorgon Sisters as monsters. 31
Pelasgians fleeing the dominance of the Olympian gods recognize Medusa as their ancient Earth Mother Goddess. Though initially overwhelmed and doubtful that she deserves worship, Medusa accepts their faith with Moran's support and becomes their protector. 32
The Pelasgian settlements flourish under her protection. Growing faith restores Medusa's divine aspect, suppresses her monstrous side, and returns her appearance and authority toward her former Mother Goddess state. 32 33
As Pellasgi grows into a nation, Medusa protects its people during the war against Olympus and reserves her strength for the confrontation with Zeus. She supports Moran directly against Zeus's Divine Core Avatar, using her authority and wings to resist his lightning. 40 41 42 44
Appearance
Medusa is a tall, fair-skinned goddess with long purple hair and purple eyes. Her ordinary beauty is dignified and mature, though she is personally self-conscious about her height and considers herself inferior to her sisters. 4
- Eyes — Her eyes become fierce red-purple, snake-like Saronian Eyes when her demonic nature takes control. 16
- Gorgon form — A colossal serpent-bodied monster with enormous snake hair, fangs, and a suffocating demonic aura. 16 17
- Restored Mother Goddess form — Purple hair, golden wings, golden scales on fair skin, and an aura described as sacred, noble, and elegant. 33
- Divine transformation — Her restored form is tied to concentrated Pelasgian faith and the suppression of her monstrous aspect. 33
Personality
Medusa is gentle, attentive, and protective toward those she considers family. She cared for Moran from the time he was a child and worries that he may not be accepted by Stheno and Euryale because he is human. 4
She is timid around her elder sisters and initially lacks confidence in both her appearance and her right to be worshipped as a goddess. Even after accepting the role of Earth Mother Goddess, she relies heavily on Moran's reassurance and support. 4 32
As her divine authority returns, Medusa becomes more open about her affection and loneliness. Despite adopting a more direct manner, she remains easily embarrassed around Moran. 33
Her greatest fear is losing control to her demonic nature and harming those she loves. Upon regaining sanity after attacking Moran, she regards herself as the monster who should have been defeated. 17
Abilities & Skills
Petrifying Magic Eye
Medusa possesses the Gorgon's Petrifying Magic Eye.
- Its activation is signaled by an ominous radiance and a sense of stagnation. 16
- Her eye can clash directly with Moran's identical ability; their opposing beams cancel each other out. 16
- While demonized, she uses it in combination with her overwhelming physical form to fight Moran. 16 17
Demonic Nature and Gorgon Transformation
Medusa's divine blood carries a destructive demonic aspect that can overwhelm her sanity.
- Killing intruders and being hunted as a monster accelerates her demonization. 5
- In Gorgon form, she gains a mountainous serpent body, giant snake hair, fangs, immense strength, and relentless hostility. 16 17
- Her snake hair can devour flesh and blood; consuming Moran's primordial essence briefly returns her consciousness. 17
- In the second simulation, avoiding slaughter prevents her demonic factors from activating. 31
- Pelasgian faith eventually suppresses her monstrous side and strengthens her divine aspect. 33
Authority of the Mother Goddess
Medusa's authority grows through the faith of the Pelasgians, who revere her as their ancient Earth Mother Goddess.
- Her protection brings favorable weather, timely rain, stronger physiques, fewer illnesses, and improved newborn survival among her followers. 33
- She manifests protective power over Pellasgi during its war against the Olympian gods. 40 42
- She can oppose Zeus's divine pressure on a comparable scale long enough to shield the people within her domain. 41
- Her power is not limitless: defending Pellasgi and supporting Moran against Zeus greatly depletes her authority. 42 44
Demon Beast Mother Goddess
As her divinity increases, Medusa gains authority over demonic and divine beasts.
- She can give birth to and nurture high-ranking divine beasts under her command. 36
- The beasts recognize Moran as their father and coexist with the people of Pellasgi as partners rather than tools. 36
Relationships
- Moran — Adopted younger brother and later lover; Medusa accepts his confession after he drinks her blood, and he becomes the person she relies on most. In the second simulation, Moran publicly calls her his beloved and proud wife. 4 5 32 44
- Stheno — Eldest sister; Medusa fears Stheno's orders and teasing, but Stheno's harshness conceals concern for her and Moran. 3 16
- Euryale — Second elder sister; often joins Stheno in teasing Medusa, while quietly caring for her through actions such as providing medicinal herbs. 3
- The Pelasgians — Worshippers who identify Medusa as their Earth Mother Goddess; their faith restores her authority and turns the Invisible Island into a thriving settlement. 31 32
- Zeus — Enemy among the Olympian Machine Gods; Medusa fears and hates him, protects Pellasgi from his divine might, and fights beside Moran against his avatar. 41 42 44
