Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rising Konoha prodigy | 101, 113 | Under Madara’s influence, Obito rises from being no longer the academy’s dead last to Konoha’s early-graduating “super genius,” surpassing Kakashi in both theory and practical classes. |
| Three-Tomoe Sharingan | 134, 135 | His Sharingan advances from one tomoe to three before age eight. Kaedeji identifies him as an exceptional eye-opening prodigy. |
| White Zetsu-enhanced Wood Release | 134, 151 | White Zetsu cells grant him an altered body and Wood Release, allowing rapid, seal-less techniques such as Deep Forest Emergence and defensive wooden constructs. |
| Mangekyō Sharingan — Ōhirame / Great Sun Spirit | 162, 163 | Trauma caused by the White Zetsu impersonating his grandmother awakens his Mangekyō. Ōhirame grants black-hole manipulation, flight, spatial movement, and lethal precision. |

| Parallel-world Mangekyō acquisition | 183, 190 | Obtains an alternate self’s Mangekyō eye and attempts to fuse its dōjutsu power with his own to achieve Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. |
| Second Mangekyō Sharingan | 225, 226 | After Kaedeji takes his previous eyes, emotional upheaval awakens another Mangekyō with a new space-time technique capable of forming transfer vortices. |
| Divine Tree Person and Rinnegan | 272 | After years of gestation within the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, he merges with Tobi, gains a greatly enhanced body, immense vitality, and a Rinnegan. |
| Restored Mangekyō Sharingan | 273 | Reclaims a second eye from Inaho; the transplanted eye immediately evolves from Three-Tomoe Sharingan to Mangekyō Sharingan. |
| Uka no Gen | 300 | Displays a later Mangekyō technique that can erase a locked target’s space-time “fiber nodes” within a three-kilometer radius. |
Background / History
At four years old, Obito was taken by Kaedeji to Uchiha Madara in exchange for a Hashirama clone. Madara considered him a suitable successor because of his unusually intense emotions and potential to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan. Obito was curious and talkative rather than afraid of either Kaedeji or Madara. 100
Within six months, Obito had begun making a name for himself in Konohagakure. He ceased to be the academy’s weakest student, and later became its undisputed top performer in theory and practice, graduating early as a celebrated prodigy. Kakashi regarded him as his strongest peer and rival. 101 113
Madara groomed Obito for the Eye of the Moon Plan, while White Zetsu cells altered his body and enabled his Wood Release. Obito initially treated Madara’s plan as conditional rather than absolute: he intended to use Madara, Kaedeji, and Nagato’s power for his own advancement, and stated that the plan’s progress depended on his own mood. 120 134
Appearance
Following his transformation, Obito has a humanoid body fused with pale white vegetation. His head is covered by a white, helmet-like growth, while faint remnants of his former body markings remain visible beneath the plant-like surface. 272
- Often operated while concealed within or alongside Tobi, a white Divine Tree-derived entity. 134 219
- Previously used masks and the identity of “Uchiha Madara” to obscure his identity. 134 181
- His post-transformation body possesses exceptional vitality and a streamlined, powerful build. 272
- Has wielded a Three-Tomoe Sharingan, multiple Mangekyō Sharingan, and later a single Rinnegan. 135 162 272
Personality
As a child, Obito was outspoken, curious, and unafraid of intimidating figures such as Kaedeji and Madara. His talent and recognition made him increasingly dismissive of ordinary peers, though he retained respect for Hatake Sakumo and valued his rivalry with Kakashi. 100 113 120
Madara’s tutoring, his growing strength, and repeated manipulation gradually made him arrogant, suspicious, and intensely power-driven. He resented being treated as a tool by Madara and Kaedeji, yet repeatedly pursued greater power through their knowledge, parallel worlds, and forbidden methods. 177 181 225
After awakening his Mangekyō, Obito became colder and more ruthless. He sterilized the Uchiha Clan to prevent future Mangekyō users from threatening him, attacked clan members upon his return, and openly treated allies and enemies alike as possible obstacles. 192 273
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan
Obito is an exceptional Uchiha dōjutsu user whose Sharingan advanced abnormally quickly. He awakened a Three-Tomoe Sharingan before age eight and later awakened multiple Mangekyō Sharingan through trauma and emotional upheaval. 135 162 225
- Can perceive high-speed opponents and predict movements beyond the capability of an ordinary Three-Tomoe Sharingan. 166
- Uses genjutsu pressure through direct eye contact. 188
- Can manifest a half-body armored Susanoo. 167
- His Mangekyō use severely strains his vision, even with White Zetsu cells reinforcing his body. 166 172
- Kaedeji’s Kotoamatsukami affected his judgment and made it difficult for him to use his dōjutsu. 193 194
Ōhirame / Great Sun Spirit
Ōhirame is Obito’s first documented Mangekyō ability. Kaedeji describes it as surpassing Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi in versatility and destructive utility. 163
- Generates, enlarges, shrinks, and precisely positions black holes. 163
- Can erase or consume incoming physical attacks, forcing enemies to halt their attacks before contact. 167
- Provides flight and spatial teleportation. 163
- Has instant-kill potential when used against targets caught within its attack area. 163
- Its high chakra and ocular cost prevents Obito from using it freely. 164 166
Wood Release
White Zetsu cells and Tobi’s support allow Obito to wield Wood Release despite being an Uchiha. His techniques can be used rapidly and, in some cases, without hand seals. 134 151
- Deep Forest Emergence — Creates a rapidly expanding forest that entangles and overwhelms targets. 134 181
- Wood Dragon Technique — Summons a destructive wooden dragon capable of tearing through a forest with ease. 181
- Can form immediate defensive wooden barriers against high-speed attacks. 151
- His altered body and Tobi’s assistance let him use Wood Release more effectively than a normal human body could sustain. 134 166
Space-Time Ninjutsu
Obito possesses multiple space-time abilities across his Mangekyō incarnations.
- Ōhirame allows black-hole-based teleportation and battlefield repositioning. 163
- His later Mangekyō can generate spatial vortices to transport himself and others. 226
- He can enter and traverse parallel worlds through Limited Tsukuyomi-related methods. 181 198
- Transporting additional people increases the burden on his eyes. 214
Limited Tsukuyomi and Parallel-World Traversal
Obito learns to exploit Limited Tsukuyomi as a parallel-world weapon rather than merely an illusion. He calls it an S-rank forbidden technique after using it to enter another world and possess that world’s Minato. 190
- Can manifest as a spiritual body immune to attacks within the alternate world. 190
- Can possess an alternate-world body after incapacitating its original occupant. 190
- Uses alternate worlds to acquire Mangekyō Sharingan and seek the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. 181 183 190
- Activates Izanagi and Limited Tsukuyomi with Kaedeji’s hidden assistance to open further world connections. 198
Divine Tree Person Physiology and Rinnegan
Black Zetsu guides Obito toward becoming a Divine Tree Person through the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and Tobi. The process takes several years and fundamentally changes his body. 226 272
- Merges with Tobi and obtains a body of exceptional vitality. 272
- Gains immense chakra reserves and physical power described as capable of destructive force comparable to a Tailed Beast Bomb. 272
- Awakens a Rinnegan, bypassing the Eternal Mangekyō stage he had sought for years. 272
- Retains only one Rinnegan initially and considers the missing second eye a limitation. 272
Uka no Gen
Uka no Gen is a later Mangekyō technique described as an enhanced form of Kamui. 300
- Has a three-kilometer effective range. 300
- Requires Obito to visually lock onto a target’s crucial space-time fiber nodes. 300
- A plucking motion causes the selected part of the target to break down or be erased from existence. 300
Relationships
- Uchiha Madara — Mentor and manipulator who selected Obito as his successor for the Eye of the Moon Plan. Their relationship deteriorated as Madara continued to view Obito as a tool and later attempted to seize his power. 100 120 220
- Kaedeji — Initially delivers Obito to Madara and later uses him as a Konoha advisor and pawn. Kaedeji manipulates him with Kotoamatsukami and eventually takes his Mangekyō eyes. 100 176 193 220

- Black Zetsu — An uneasy ally who reveals Kaguya’s survival and proposes the Divine Tree Person path. Obito distrusts Black Zetsu’s motives but works with him to oppose Madara and Kaedeji. 225 226

- Uchiha Clan — Obito’s birth clan, whom he later regards as a potential threat. He sterilizes them to prevent more Mangekyō users from emerging, then attacks them after returning as a Divine Tree Person. 192 273
- Kaguya Ōtsutsuki — Obito becomes her pawn after his Divine Tree Person transformation, though he intends to seek an opportunity to eliminate her rather than remain controlled. 273

Fall from Kaedeji’s Control
Obito sterilizes the Uchiha Clan to remove future Mangekyō threats, then attempts to use Shisui’s confrontation with Kaedeji for his own plans. Kaedeji anticipates the scheme, subjects Obito to Kotoamatsukami, and later takes his eyes amid Madara and Tobi’s betrayal. 192 193 220 221
Divine Tree Person Transformation
