Classification
Human Star Weaves
Human Star Weaves appear on the back of the neck during the awakening test. Their visible patterns are classified as sun, moon, or star, with sun ranked highest and star lowest. They are also graded S through D according to Star Power. A person’s pattern cannot be changed, though its grade can improve. 1
Most people with a star-pattern Star Weave retain only one star point for life. In rare growth-type cases, additional points and connecting lines emerge as Star Power grows. A person becomes qualified to forge Mech Star Weaves after gaining three star points; such individuals are called Chosen Ones. 2
Mech Star Weaves
Mech Star Weaves are intricate patterns inscribed directly onto a Mech. Unlike human Star Weaves, they do not appear as sun, moon, or star symbols. Their scale, number of lines, and energy determine their strength. 50
A successful Mech Star Weave greatly improves combat performance and may potentially raise a Mech beyond its original class limits. 2 47
Inscription Rules
- A Star Weaver must memorize the intended pattern and carve it with Star Power in one uninterrupted stroke. 50
- Any pause or depletion of Star Power before completion causes the inscription to fail. 50
- A Mech can possess only one Star Weave of each attribute. 54
- Larger and more intricate patterns require greater comprehension and Star Power. 50
- Intermediate upgrades can be drawn over the original weave; the earlier weave converts into energy and is absorbed by the new inscription. 95
- Advanced Star Weaves are substantially larger and are difficult to conceal on a Mech. 201
Functions and Attributes
Basic Attributes
The three foundational Mech Star Weaves are strength, agility, and defense. They are the simplest types for beginners to learn and can substantially improve a Mech’s combat ability. 54
- Strength — increases a Mech’s power output. 118 147
- Agility — improves mobility and maneuverability. 54 95
- Defense — reinforces protection; it is comparatively simpler to inscribe than offensive patterns. 50
Special Attributes
Special-attribute Star Weaves include space, time, light, dark matter, and the five elements. Their patterns are more difficult for novice Star Weavers to draw, and low-level versions may provide limited combat benefit. 54 75
- Space — can provide storage capacity and, at advanced levels, short-range teleportation or spatial tearing. 199 266 319
- Time — can inflict aging damage on enemy Mechs; its developed restorative effect can return a Mech to a very recent state, but cannot replace missing hardware. 199 266
- Five elements — may provide exceptional defense against the corresponding attribute and improve close-quarters performance. 194
- Light and dark matter — documented as special attributes, though their specific effects are not detailed. 54
Spatial Teleportation
Zhou Yi’s improved Space Star Weaves allow a Mech to make a spatial jump of approximately 500 to 1,000 meters, providing a decisive evasive option in battle. 319
- The technique was initially difficult to control and demanded exceptional user ability. 244
- Zhou Yi simplified the drawing method enough to produce up to three Space Star Weaves per day without reducing their effectiveness. 320
- Other Star Weavers later produced a lower-cost version with reduced teleportation distance for broad military deployment. 328
Star Weave Reconstruction
A failed inscription leaves an incomplete pattern that destabilizes a Mech, reduces its combat strength, and can render its materials unusable even after dismantling. 50 194
Star Weave Reconstruction repairs this damage by guiding Star Power along the failed pattern, correcting or completing it, then drawing a new weave over it. The second drawing must achieve more than 30% amplification for the replacement weave to form. 195
- Reconstruction requires roughly twice the Star Power of a normal inscription and must be completed continuously. 195
- Before Zhou Yi’s breakthrough, Star Weave repair was considered effectively impossible; even senior Star Weavers reportedly achieved at most a 30% success rate. 306
- Zhou Yi estimates her repair success rate at 90%, with further improvement expected as her Star Power rises. 306
History
Star Weaver Masters are extraordinarily rare specialists capable of awakening Star Weaves for Mechs. Their work is so valuable because a Star-Weave-enhanced Mech can gain vastly increased combat power, potentially even doubling its original output. 2
The Zhou family preserved Star Weaver Master, Volume One, written by their gifted ancestor Zhou Qian. After generations in which the family’s Star Weaves remained ordinary single stars, Zhou Yi developed a second point and connecting line after five months of effort, revealing her growth-type potential. 2
Zhou Yi initially concealed her ability, inscribing her earliest patterns in hidden portions of Little Red’s energy unit. She later progressed from beginner patterns to intermediate and advanced Star Weaves, eventually becoming publicly known as an Advanced Star Weaver Master during the Interstellar Competition. 50 95 209
Her research expanded Star Weaves beyond conventional attribute enhancement. Her Space Star Weaves became a major military asset, while her successful reconstruction method made it possible to salvage Mechs previously considered permanently ruined. 306 319
After Zhou Yi shared a Mech carrying the complete process imprints of her spatial research, Star Weaver Masters collectively studied and refined the technique. Their cooperation enabled the Alliance Army to begin widespread use of simplified teleportation Star Weaves. 324 328
Known Practitioners
- Zhou Yi — Growth-type Star Weaver and Advanced Star Weaver Master; innovated practical spatial teleportation Star Weaves and achieved reliable Star Weave Reconstruction. 209 306 319
- Zhou Qian — Zhou Yi’s ancestor; a legendary Star Weaver whose rare success in reshaping Star Weaves led to his imprisonment by the Li Family. 300 332
- Hao Wuduan — Star Weaver Master whose inheritance included Star Weaver Master, Volume One; later acknowledges Zhou Yi as his disciple. 325
- Shang Cailiang — Legendary Star Weaver Master associated with an Ultra S-class Star Weave that granted a Mech independent consciousness. 323
Trivia
- A legend states that a Super S-class Star Weave once gave a Mech its own consciousness, turning it into a true killing machine. 2
- Successful Star Weaves retain sealed energy and can remain active even when their Mech is not operating. 244
- Mechs bearing Star Weaves are also symbols of a family’s influence and status, not merely combat assets. 117
