Hu Manduo enrolled in Huadun's Class Three as a quiet, chubby student who was immediately mocked by classmates for his physique. After being driven from his first-row seat, he hesitantly asked to sit beside Zhou Yi, who accepted him without judgment. 19

He initially hid his hunger because he had never been accustomed to Nutrient Solution. His lack of its usual scent, along with his access to ordinary food, set him apart from most students on the D-Class Star Block. 20 His friendship with Zhou Yi and Lu Xiaoxiao solidified when he hosted them in his oversized dorm room, sharing roasted dried insects and steamed buns. 24

Although his wealth was apparent through his food, Space Ring, and living arrangements, Hu Manduo remained modest about his family. He later confirmed that his family possessed considerable Star Crystal and Star Coin resources. 24 78 His parents, Hu Zhi and Qian Fen, eventually revealed the full extent of the Hu family's influence by collecting the Huadun team in their private Star Ship. 105

He is generous with his food and resources, and takes particular joy in seeing others enjoy what he shares. 24

Despite being raised in wealth, he lacks the arrogance and unwillingness to suffer that Gong Zhen associates with spoiled rich children. He accepts harsh training seriously, repeatedly gets back up after being defeated, and works to correct his faults. 115 His kindness remains visible even in battle: after flattening Waters's Mech head with his hammer, he immediately apologizes and tries to help his opponent up. 99
