"Where am I?" Madara sat up in bed and rubbed his faintly aching head.
"Am I home?" Madara began looking around. The familiar furnishings around him filled him with warmth.
"As expected, I'm still too weak. I've been on the battlefield since I was six, yet I nearly died at the hands of a beast!" Madara looked at the heavily bandaged left arm and mocked himself.
"You're awake! Lie back down!" Tang Hao pushed aside the door curtain and entered with a bowl of medicine. Seeing Madara trying to get out of bed, he frowned.
"Brother! Are you okay? I shouldn't have left you behind!" Tang San entered as well, his face full of guilt.
"I'm fine! It wasn't your fault to begin with! I was careless!" Madara forced a smile, and a trace of color returned to his pale face.
"It's good that you know you were wrong! I told you long ago that your arrogance would come back to hurt you someday!" Tang Hao sternly rebuked him.
Madara remained silent. He understood his own flaws as well. To the strong, it was confidence; to the weak, it was arrogance.
Tang Hao had long noticed that Madara's nature was excessively prideful and had tried to advise him, but the arrogance in Madara's bones—the disdain with which he looked down upon the world—could not be ground away.
"I understand!" Madara said in a deep voice after pondering for a while.
Seeing Madara's thoughtful expression, Tang Hao nodded in satisfaction, believing that this setback had finally made his eldest son, Madara, come to his senses.
Everything happened because I'm not strong enough! As long as I become strong enough, I can be like I was in my previous life! No one will be able to hurt me! A realization suddenly dawned on Madara.
Tang Hao thought his words had finally made Madara rein himself in, never expecting that he had instead pushed Madara farther down a path in the opposite direction.
"Xiao San, feed your brother his medicine!" Tang Hao set the spoon and bowl on the table, then walked out without looking back.
"But Dad, didn't you say you would personally..." Tang San asked in confusion, but before he could finish, he was interrupted by the rough sound of the door slamming shut.
"Xiao San, what time is it now?" Madara asked as he drank the medicine.
"Brother, it's already past noon! You were unconscious for five hours!" Tang San carefully blew on the medicine.
"Five hours?" Madara raised an eyebrow. It seemed his recovery ability was still decent.
"Yes. Brother, you met the Lord Soul Master who came to Sacred Soul Village to conduct the Spirit Awakening. He said the one you killed was a sixty- or seventy-year-old Spirit Beast Lynx, and he even praised you!" Tang San nodded, full of admiration.
Although Tang San had possessed exceptional talent in his previous life, he had ultimately only been an outer sect disciple. He had devoted himself to studying hidden weapons, and his combat experience could be considered plentiful.
However, compared to Asura, who had been killing since the age of six until the entire Shinobi World trembled in fear, he still fell far short.
Tang San asked himself honestly: without using hidden weapons and relying only on a dagger, the best possible outcome would have been mutual destruction, let alone killing the enemy in return.
"That's nothing! You'll be able to do it too someday!" Madara once again reached out with his uninjured right hand and rubbed Tang San's hair, leaving Tang San somewhat helpless.
Madara was telling the truth. Tang San was highly talented, born with extraordinary strength and possessing a meticulous mind from a young age. As long as he made up for his lack of combat experience, Madara would have to put in considerable effort to defeat him in the future.
"By the way, has that wolf Soul Master begun the Spirit Awakening ceremony?" Madara suddenly remembered that today was the day for Spirit Awakening and asked.
"Lord Soul Master is examining that Spirit Beast with Village Chief Grandpa! He said he had to wait until you woke up before conducting the Spirit Awakening!" Tang San shook his head.
"Wait for me?"
"Probably because of your talent, Brother! After all, a child killing a Spirit Beast is enough to prove your potential!" Tang San analyzed from the side.
"Brother, rest for a while first. I'll wake you when it's time for the Spirit Awakening!"
"Alright!" Madara's stamina had already been depleted after such an intense battle, so having time to rest was the best thing possible.
That afternoon, the delayed Spirit Awakening finally officially began.
Old Jack had brought Madara and Tang San over from the Blacksmith Shop early on. Of course, he had not stopped nagging and scolding the two children along the way for running around instead of sleeping properly and nearly getting themselves killed.
It warmed Madara's heart. Those who truly cared about you did not care how great your success was, but worried about how great the risks behind that success might be.
Village Chief Jack undoubtedly treated the two of them as true juniors.
By the time they arrived at the Spirit Hall in the center of the village, quite a few children were already waiting there. When they saw Madara arrive, they fearfully moved aside and made way for him.
Without hesitation, Madara pulled Tang San to the front of the line. He was deeply unaccustomed to the villagers pointing at him and looking at him as though he were a monster.
Before his Spirit possessed him, Su Yuntao could still be called a handsome man. He was currently standing beside the Crystal Ball. "You're here, little friend! Your name is Madara? That's quite unusual!"
Su Yuntao was extremely interested in this child named Madara. He had been on his way to Sacred Soul Village, planning to finish the Spirit Awakening in the morning before heading to the next village. Unexpectedly, not far outside Sacred Soul Village, his wolf nose had caught the scent of a Spirit Beast.
Nuoding City was located on the frontier of the Heaven Dou Empire and was not far from Soul Hunting Forest. Although Spirit Hall and the imperial army guarded the area, small fry occasionally slipped out, like this Spirit Beast Lynx.
Su Yuntao had been quite tempted by that Spirit Ring. It was even a little older than his First Spirit Ring. Unfortunately, Madara had not yet awakened his Spirit and had no way to absorb it, so it eventually dissipated.
"Come on, kid. I'll awaken your Spirit!" Su Yuntao raised his chin, signaling for Madara to stand before him.
"Let my younger brother go first!" Madara pushed Tang San from behind him to the front.
"Brother! Maybe I should wait a little longer!" Tang San scratched his head.
"Remember, I'm the older brother! You're the younger brother!" Madara flicked Tang San's forehead.
"Alright, then!" Tang San said helplessly.
"What a good older brother! Fine, let your younger brother go first!" Su Yuntao praised him.
"Place your hand on the Crystal Ball. Close your eyes, and you should be able to sense it!" After instructing Tang San, Su Yuntao shouted in a low voice, "Spirit Lone Wolf, possess me!"
Su Yuntao's body swelled as if it had been inflated. His originally loose Spirit Hall uniform was instantly stretched taut. Together with his dark green eyes and sharp claws, he looked exactly like a werewolf from a fairy tale.
Under Su Yuntao's burly figure, the children all trembled in fright. Tang San, who stood closest to him, not only showed no fear but instead revealed an interested expression, making him stand out from the rest.
Tang San realized that he had become interested in the profession of Soul Master. He could hardly wait to find out what his own Spirit would be.
Seeing Tang San remain calm and composed, Madara could not help nodding.
"Close your eyes and sense carefully!"
Su Yuntao shouted as he vigorously urged the Spirit Awakening ceremony onward.
Tang San's body trembled slightly. He felt some sealed power within his body being drawn out by this energy. Instinctively, he extended his palm, and countless points of light slowly gathered into a small blade of deep blue grass. It looked utterly ordinary.
Su Yuntao had thought that, as the younger brother of a child capable of killing a Spirit Beast, this boy might awaken a good Spirit. Disappointed, he said, "This is a complete Waste Spirit! Blue Silver Grass!"
"A Waste Spirit?" Both Madara and Tang San felt their hearts sink.
Su Yuntao had originally intended to skip the next step, but then he saw Madara staring at him with blazing eyes.
"Forget it! Let's test it anyway!" Su Yuntao hesitated, then remembered that the Tang San before him was the younger brother of that highly promising child. He handed the Crystal Ball to Tang San.
Unexpectedly, the moment Tang San took the Crystal Ball, it began to burst forth with dazzling light.
"Innate Full Soul Power! It's actually Innate Full Soul Power!" Su Yuntao rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
"What is Innate Full Soul Power, sir?" Tang San asked curiously yet politely. Madara likewise raised an eyebrow, showing his interest.
Su Yuntao then gave the two of them a detailed explanation of Innate Full Soul Power.
