Background
Wang Yuyan is the daughter of Li Qingluo of the Gusu Wang family and Murong Fu's cousin. Before her involvement with Black Wind Stronghold, she possessed extensive theoretical knowledge of martial arts but had not practiced them herself. Her familiarity with the techniques collected at Langhuan Blessed Land made her exceptionally valuable to Jiang Dali. 167 225 984
Jiang Dali took her captive after defeating Murong Fu's retainers. Although she initially tried to protect Murong Fu and later believed he would refuse any arrangement involving her, Murong Fu was willing to treat her as a bargaining piece in exchange for an alliance with Black Wind Stronghold. His decision left her devastated and hostile toward Jiang Dali. 165 210 212
Li Qingluo subsequently agreed that Wang Yuyan would remain at Black Wind Stronghold for two years as its Scripture Depository Imparting Skills Elder. Over time, Wang Yuyan began teaching players, explaining martial arts manuals, and assisting Jiang Dali with the development and refinement of his techniques. 235 357 634
Although Jiang Dali initially forced cultivation upon her by transferring internal energy, Wang Yuyan later chose to become stronger after repeated attempts by enemies to use her as leverage. She remained on Xia Ke Island to study the Grand Profound Scripture and eventually reached the Heavenly Human Realm. 382 477 523
Appearance
Wang Yuyan is a refined young woman with clear, spring-like eyes, smooth jade-like skin, and delicate features. She is repeatedly noted for her reserved bearing and classical beauty. 214 849
- Often dresses in elegant, conservative clothing, including a sable fur coat while residing at Black Wind Stronghold. 214
- Her appearance is described as more delicate and luminous after her cultivation advances. 849
- She commonly becomes flustered or visibly embarrassed when placed in intimate or public situations. 468 912
Personality
Initially, Wang Yuyan is gentle, sheltered, and principled. She fears danger, dislikes violence, and resents being treated as a source of martial arts knowledge rather than as a person. Even while captive, she refuses to surrender every secret of Langhuan Blessed Land, stating that she would rather die than reveal all of its martial arts. 193
She is compassionate and loyal to people she cares about. She attempts to protect Murong Fu's retainers, urges Duan Yu not to endanger himself for her, and later agrees to persuade him to leave Black Wind Stronghold so that he will not be harmed. 165 214 226
As she matures, Wang Yuyan becomes more composed and decisive. She acknowledges Black Wind Stronghold's role in protecting Huizhou, gains the resolve to cultivate for herself, and refuses to remain merely a weakness others can exploit. 380 477
Her reserve remains intact even after becoming a capable martial artist. She is uncomfortable with open declarations of affection and frequently clashes with Wanwan's boldness, but her concern for Jiang Dali and willingness to remain beside him become increasingly clear. 593 912 1027
