Background / History

Creation and settlement

The Human Race is created by Hong Yun and Nuwa and is regarded as the bloodline of its Holy Father and Holy Mother. Immediately after its birth, Hong Yun chooses to care for the newborn humans and moves them to the East Sea rather than accompany Nuwa in creating a world beyond the Primordial World. 138

Its early growth is exceptional. Within a thousand years, the population expands from 120,000 to tens of millions, forcing outward expansion and causing conflicts with neighboring demon clans. 139 Ancestral Hong—an incarnation of Hong Yun’s Primordial Spirit—becomes the senior among the Four Human Ancestors and directs development through policies that repeatedly earn Heavenly Dao Merit, including fire-making, housing, clothing, animal domestication, and agriculture. 139

When the Wolf Clan threatens the expanding settlements, Ancestral Hong defeats its peak Golden Immortal leader Bai Yue with the Dragon Subduing Palm. Bai Yue and the Wolf Clan are subsequently made guards of the Human Race. 139

Human-Dragon alliance

The Dragon Clan sends ten thousand dragons to the East Sea after Ao Qing accepts Hong Yun’s proposal for an alliance. 141 At the Human-Dragon alliance ceremony, the dragons promise rain, clouds, and protection, while the Human Race agrees to revere the Dragon Clan as its totem. 143

The Heavenly Dao acknowledges the alliance and grants merit to both races. The Dragon Clan’s karmic debt is reduced, while the Human Ancestors refine merit and advance to Golden Immortal Grand Perfection. 143 144 The alliance also turns the Human Race into a sought-after partner: numerous races dispatch envoys, and Ancestral Hong selectively accepts allies useful to human development while rejecting harmful groups. 145

Independence from the Demon Clan

The Demon Clan attempts to recruit the Human Race by promising protection, territorial expansion, and Innate Spiritual Treasures. 146 Although the other Human Ancestors are initially tempted, Ancestral Hong rejects the offer and establishes self-strengthening as a core principle:

“As Heaven maintains vigor through movement, a gentleman should constantly strive for self-perfection!” 146

He argues that humanity must not become another race’s vassal and must build strength internally rather than depend on external protection. 146 Ji Meng’s subsequent threats provoke open conflict, and the Dragon, Phoenix, Qilin, and Witch Clans intervene in support of the Human Race. 147 148

Martial Dao and the Demon Clan calamity

The Human Race initially relies heavily on merit to produce experts because orthodox immortal cultivation has too high a threshold for the newly born race. 153 Ancestral Hong eventually creates Martial Dao, a human-specific cultivation system that may be practiced by anyone possessing the will to do so. Its establishment earns a major descent of Heavenly Dao Merit. 153 154

As humanity spreads across the Primordial World, the Demon Clan permits lesser demons to consume humans as blood food. 150 This escalates into a large-scale massacre, answered by the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans, Zhen Yuanzi, Minghe, Xuandu, Zhunti, and numerous other allies protecting human survivors. 167

Human Martial Dao cultivators later resist the Demon Clan directly. The Three Human Ancestors combine their Blood Essence and laws to confront Ji Meng, while human forces hold their ground against demon soldiers. 170

Rise of the Human Dao

After the Witch-Demon conflict recedes, human Destiny expands rapidly. The original Human Ancestors withdraw to Fire Cloud Cave, believing the race must eventually govern itself despite its growing internal struggles for power and profit. 241

Hong Yun convenes the Purple Cloud Palace council to begin the era of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, intending for human rulers to guide the race’s development. 249 Fuxi is reincarnated into the Human Race as the first Human Emperor, and later rulers include Jiang Xuan, Xuanyuan, Zhuanxu, Yao, Shun, and Yu. 251 312 314 321

Zhuanxu responds to excessive immortal interference by swearing a Human Dao oath to sever the connection between heaven and earth, protecting humanity’s Destiny, faith, and internal affairs from predation by external cultivators. 312

Yu later unifies the tribes into the Xia Dynasty, establishes a centralized state, and forges the Nine Province Cauldrons to define human territory. 321 His achievement causes the Human Race’s Destiny to surge and earns him merit surpassing that associated with the Three Sovereigns. 325

Civilization and later development

Cang Jie creates three thousand characters to preserve human history and civilization, establishing the Literary Dao. His achievement receives merit from the Heaven, Earth, and Human Daos. 310 As the Literary Dao flourishes, the Hundred Schools of Thought arise; their founders benefit from its aura, and Human Race civilization continues to strengthen. 477 478

In later mortal eras, human dynasties rise and fall while reincarnated Great Powers participate in historical struggles over Human Dao Destiny. 525 By the time of Flower Fruit Mountain, humans, demons, spirits, and cultivators are shown living together under an organized urban registration system. 499
