Background

Ichigo is a fifteen-year-old Karakura Town high school student whose outwardly delinquent appearance contrasts with strong academic performance, emotional intelligence, and a serious sense of responsibility. As a Substitute Shinigami, he initially believes his duty is to protect people from Hollows and help souls reach the happiness Rukia describes in Soul Society.
