Sakumo's death and adoption

Kakashi stood at Hatake Sakumo's grave three days after his father's suicide, grieving in the rain and rejecting Sosuke Aizen's attempt to comfort him. Sakumo's warnings had left him suspicious of Aizen, even as Aizen left food and shelter behind for him. 1

Though only six, Kakashi had already performed missions, killed bandits, and acquired the practical judgment of an experienced ninja. He accepted Aizen's offer to become his adopted son after concluding that Aizen intended to protect him. 6 8 Living in Aizen's residence gradually complicated his distrust: Aizen worked constantly on Konoha's affairs and shared secret techniques without withholding them. 18 20

Blood-art research

Kakashi improved Aizen's Blut Vene, expanding its protection beyond his skin to his clothing and gear. His work earned recognition from Konoha's researchers shortly after he became a Chunin. 8

He later developed Blut Arterie and demonstrated it before Konoha's ninja.
