Xi Xiu focused on the Star Net livestream, carefully replaying every one of Ye Zhenwei's movements in her mind. These were all things she needed to learn.
She had little actual combat experience. Her only fight had been throwing a weapon from a distance.
Her recent sparring sessions with Xue Fanhui were not comparable, and the techniques she had learned from Wei Lanshan had never had a chance to be put into practice.
This livestreamed match during the journey had benefited Xi Xiu greatly. She noted down all her shortcomings, planning to study them carefully with Xue Fanhui once they returned.
The carriage was filled with endless praise. Xi Xiu also admired hardworking people. Setting aside their identities, Ye Zhenwei's performance in today's livestream had been commendable.
Hopefully, they would not meet on a narrow road in the future. And if they did, hopefully they could still face each other calmly.
The livestream ignited the children's passion. Corinne broke down some of the moves from the match for them and told them which aspects they should focus on to subdue an opponent like that.
She also urged them to practice diligently and never slack off. Using Ye Zhenwei as an example, she lectured them, "The big sister you're seeing now has an initial physical fitness rating of 5A and Mental Power of 3S, the highest levels in the entire Alliance at present. Even she works this hard, so you can only work harder.
"Only then might you have the chance to become her subordinates in the future, to travel with her through the depths of the starry seas, and to receive the admiration of the entire Alliance. Follow her, and your achievements will be entered into the Central Brain's database, leaving your names for eternity."
The more than ninety children in Xi Xiu's vehicle all stared wide-eyed, their hearts surging with excitement. They wanted to work hard—hard enough to become the subordinates of that extraordinarily gifted big sister and serve the Alliance.
"Work hard, work hard, work hard! Fight for the Alliance!" Everyone in the vehicle shouted the words at the top of their lungs.
Looking at the more than ninety young and immature faces before her, Corinne knew that one-third of them would attend school on Capital Star in the future, one-third might go to the Liuzhao Galaxy System, and the remaining third would only go to Jinghui Star.
Two-thirds of them would enter the military and fight for the Alliance's peace.
Every one of them would shine for the Alliance. This kind of passion had to be cultivated from childhood, and it was also part of their regular curriculum. An outstanding warrior had to possess fighting spirit and fire in their blood.
This was the glorious education every child received each day, instilling in them a sense of belonging to the Alliance and making them proud of it, just like all their ancestors had been.
Xi Xiu and Xue Fanhui listened intently as well. Xi Xiu clicked her tongue inwardly. The Alliance's patriotic education was really inspiring—it had even made her blood surge.
It had to be said that the Alliance's various forms of education were very successful!
Xue Fanhui was equally full of fighting spirit. She, too, was moving toward her own goal.
By the time the livestream ended, they had reached their destination. This was the coast of Ningkui Star, completely different from the seas on the planet where Xi Xiu had lived in her previous life.
It looked exceptionally clean. From high above, it was an endless expanse of beautiful pink. After landing, the color appeared closer to a purplish pink, a very gentle shade.
Xi Xiu loved it beyond measure and immediately searched the Star Net for information about the coast.
Though it looked like such a beautiful pinkish-purple, it was actually all algae. There were no fish living in these waters—only microorganisms.
That was why it looked so clean. It seemed that everywhere in the Alliance held scenery capable of astonishing Xi Xiu. She silently made a plan: once her service term ended, she would shoulder her pack and travel throughout the Alliance.
Xi Xiu and Xue Fanhui set up tents with the robots. They would spend the night on this coast, under the lofty name of experiencing and returning to nature.
Both Xi Xiu and Xue Fanhui were highly capable with their hands, though Xue Fanhui was even better.
The dexterity of her fingers left Xi Xiu in awe. As expected of a girl determined to become Chief of Equipment.
Then perhaps she ought to set herself a goal too. Otherwise, she looked far too unmotivated.
Xi Xiu decided that after retiring, she would make plenty of money and then travel. It was happily decided.
The two of them and Robot 08 quickly finished setting up their sleeping area for the night. It was sturdy and beautiful. Then Xi Xiu and Xue Fanhui headed to the meeting point together.
They still had two wilderness classes to attend, and Vivian was responsible for teaching them.
"Did everyone have fun today?"
"Yes!"
"Good. Today, I'll teach you to identify some plants. These are flowers and grasses you may encounter in your daily lives later on, so make sure you remember them. This will be on the test."
"Yes, understood."
Vivian walked ahead, leading them to the shoreline, where robots had gathered various kinds of algae.
Vivian taught them which ones were edible, which could only be used for decoration, and which were poisonous—ones they must not only avoid eating, but not even touch.
Vivian taught them biology for over an hour. Afterward, she uploaded the ten plants and microorganisms covered in today's lesson to the Orphanage's system, reminding them to review after returning. This would also be part of the exam.
Xi Xiu memorized everything and recorded it on her terminal, sorting it into categories and specially marking the edible varieties.
After class ended, the children played by the sea in twos and threes, while the robot nannies followed nearby, responsible for their safety.
Xi Xiu and Xue Fanhui headed toward the reefs, with 08 silently following. Xi Xiu picked up some pretty grains of sand and stones, intending to polish them after returning to pass the time.
The sand and stones came in every color imaginable, so richly colored that Xi Xiu could not even name them all. It truly was a beautiful and wondrous place.
Xi Xiu secretly placed all the sand and stones she had picked up into her Space Locket. It was an adjustable bracelet on her wrist that could change size automatically. It looked somewhat like the jade bangles from her previous life and would not arouse anyone's suspicion.
Xue Fanhui also picked up many and stuffed them into her pockets. Sometimes, on a whim, she wanted to make flashy little things, and the colors of these sand and stones would be perfect for adding some color.
As Xi Xiu and Xue Fanhui walked back toward camp, they heard the sounds of fighting when they reached a huge reef. Both of them slowed their steps, while 08 followed behind in complete silence.
Xue Fanhui crept forward and discovered that the people who had bullied her last year had changed targets. This time, they were bullying a newly arrived girl named Zhen.
This girl had just arrived and was unfamiliar with everyone at the Orphanage. She rarely spoke and was a somewhat introverted little girl, the same age as Xi Xiu.
After a year of growth, Xue Fanhui had become a year older and somewhat more composed. She did not rush out directly. Instead, she gestured to Xi Xiu, telling her to launch a surprise attack from the other side of the reef.
Xi Xiu thought it over, then looked at their numbers. There were only three of them. The strategy should work.
So she crouched and crept around from the other side without making the slightest sound.
08 watched both their movements through its mechanical eyes and recorded a video. Xue Fanhui and Xi Xiu had no idea that their actions had already been RECORDED! ON! FILE!
Once Xue Fanhui saw that Xi Xiu was in position, she charged out directly, grabbed the largest girl, Fiona, and rolled away from the other two with her.
