Background / History
Tang San was born in Holy Soul Village, within Nuoding City's jurisdiction. He was raised by his father, a village blacksmith, and grew up without a mother. Though Blue Silver Grass was his apparent Martial Soul, he secretly possessed Innate Full Spirit Power and a second Martial Soul: the Clear Sky Hammer. 71
As a first-year work-study student at Nuoding Academy, Tang San became Yu Xiaogang's disciple. Because of experiences from his previous life, he regarded the master-disciple bond as sacred and reacted furiously when Xiao Xuan claimed Yu Xiaogang was using him as an experimental “toy.” 22
Xiao Xuan's actions repeatedly diverted opportunities that Tang San was expected to receive, beginning with the four-hundred-year Mandala Snake intended to become Tang San's first soul ring. 5 Tang San's first direct clash with Xiao Xuan ended in defeat despite his use of Blue Silver Grass, the Mysterious Heaven Skill, sleeve arrows, and prearranged defenses. 22 23 24
The loss became the central source of Tang San's obsession. He devoted himself almost entirely to cultivation, neglecting Xiao Wu and becoming increasingly determined to erase the gap between himself and Xiao Xuan. 38 70
Personality
Tang San is disciplined and intensely cultivation-focused. He rejects distractions that he believes interfere with his progress, including his companions' attempts to draw him into leisure activities. 106 111
He is also calculating in battle, combining control skills, Tang Sect techniques, poison, and concealed weapons to create openings. He can rapidly assess enemy tactics and coordinate teammates, as shown against Emperor Team and during the defense against Spirit Empire infiltrators. 85 119 266
His rivalry with Xiao Xuan regularly overwhelms that caution. News of Xiao Xuan's achievements destabilizes him, and his desire for revenge leads him to attack an injured Xiao Xuan with the Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles—an action that nearly costs him his life and forces Tang Xiao and Howling Sky Douluo to intervene. 70 267
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, a rare twin-Martial-Soul combination concealed during his early years. 71
- Blue Silver Grass — His primary public Martial Soul; used for control, binding, defense, and battlefield positioning. 22 23
- Clear Sky Hammer — His second Martial Soul and proof of his connection to the Clear Sky Sect. He uses it to establish his identity upon arriving at the sect. 71 192
- His twin-Martial-Soul physique carries a risk of physical collapse at higher levels without a sufficiently strong foundation. 128
Blue Silver Grass Control
Tang San's Blue Silver Grass is a control-oriented Tool Martial Soul.
- Entangle — Summons Blue Silver Grass vines to bind an opponent's joints; he also uses prearranged grass as a defensive barrier. 23 24
- Blue Silver Prison — His fourth soul skill and strongest known control skill at the time; its binding ability can hinder Xiao Xuan. 153
- Tactical use — Uses Blue Silver Grass to support teammates, manipulate positioning, protect himself, and combine with concealed-weapon attacks. 23 84 85
Tang Sect Techniques and Hidden Weapons

- Mysterious Heaven Skill — Enhances his physical capabilities, though it is overwhelmed by Xiao Xuan's Divine Power Enhancement in their first clash. 23
- Sleeve arrows — Fired after forcing Xiao Xuan into the air with Entangle; their poison is intended to obstruct circulation through the target's veins. 23 24
- Zhuge Crossbow — Distributed among the Shrek team for a coordinated surprise attack; its barrage fails to break Xiao Xuan's defenses. 85 86
- Mother-Child Soul Chasing Life-Taking Gallbladder — Given to Dugu Bo for use against Spirit Hall, but its attack rebounds and severely injures Dugu Bo. 128 129
- Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles — His strongest currently craftable weapon; releases twenty-seven poisoned needles at vital points. Xiao Xuan blocks it with Dragon Guard. 267
Medicine, Poison, and Herb Knowledge
Tang San possesses extensive knowledge of medicinal herbs, poisons, and body-tempering methods.
- Identifies Immortal Herbs at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, including the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass and Blazing Apricot Blossom. 128

Sea God and Asura Divine Power
Tang San triggers the Sea God's Nine Trials on Sea God Island, receiving a trident-shaped mark and special treatment from Bo Saixi. 211
- His old injuries relapse when the Sea God's inherited power conflicts with divine power lingering in his body. 213
- He ultimately fails to inherit the Sea God's position because of those injuries. 217 218
- Tang Hao later channels abundant Asura Divine Power into him, allowing Tang San to contend with opponents above his normal rank. 266
Equipment / Weapons / Items
