Background / History

Robin became a formal scholar at the age of seven and participated in historical research from childhood. Zhou Qi later describes her as the pinnacle of humanities in the One Piece world, citing her scholarship, historical knowledge, and exceptional intellect. 97

While working within Baroque Works, Robin was apparently the only member besides Crocodile who knew that he was Mr. 0. Zhou Qi first approached her at Whiskey Peak after revealing that he knew Crocodile's identity, her wanted status, and Aokiji's pursuit of her. Suspicious of his motives and wary of falling into another trap, Robin initially refused to change sides, but agreed to let Zhou Qi confront Crocodile without involving her directly. 94

After Zhou Qi brought Robin, Crocodile, and Vivi into a Black Tortoise Society meeting and showed them Earth's history and the future depicted in One Piece, Robin chose to join Prosperous Stars in order to learn more about Earth and its history. 97 She learned Chinese in two hours, observed Zhou Qi long enough to learn basic computer use and Pinyin input, and watched every part of One Piece featuring herself at five times speed. 98

Robin rapidly became indispensable to Prosperous Stars' operations. During the Water 7 conflict, CP9 abducted Serinche—a scholar trained to impersonate Robin—while believing they had captured the real Child of the Devil. By Chapter 281, Robin no longer treats uncovering the Poneglyphs' history as her sole life purpose. Her new dream is to help Zhou Qi, stabilize the Fanxing Society, and preserve the comparatively peaceful world they are building. 281
