Background / History

Konan was born in the Land of Rain during the Second Shinobi World War. Her parents were killed by enemy ninja, leaving her orphaned amid the conflict that devastated the country. She later traveled with Yahiko and Nagato; the three endured begging, beatings, and capture before becoming apprentices together. 321

With Yahiko and Nagato, Konan founded the Akatsuki Organization to pursue Yahiko's goal of ending war through mutual understanding. Their growth drew the attention of Hanzō, who ambushed them during false negotiations. Yahiko sacrificed himself to save Konan. 321

After Yahiko's death, Nagato turned Yahiko's body into a Six Paths body. Konan opposed the decision but accepted it because she feared losing Nagato, her remaining childhood companion. 327

For roughly fourteen years, Konan managed Amegakure in practice while Nagato remained its true leader. She rebuilt a village that had once contained fewer than one hundred houses, reduced internal disorder, and helped create conditions in which civilians could live and work in peace. 328 336
