Previous Lives

Zhao Zilong lived two lives before arriving on Douluo Continent. His first, in Huaxia on Earth, ended in a car accident at age twelve. He entered his second life in Flower Country on Blue Star at age eight and lived there until eighteen. His arrival on Douluo Continent placed him in a twelve-year-old body; by his reflection on these experiences, he was fifteen 203.

He retains knowledge of Douluo Continent and recognizes its characters, treasures, and future events. Although he initially admired and feared Tang San, his system-driven path increasingly centered on taking Tang San's talent and opportunities 103 145 306.

Academy Life and the Soul Master Competition

At Shrek Academy, Zhao Zilong initially cooperated with Tang San. During the search for Xiao Wu in the Star Dou Great Forest, they fought an injured Man Faced Demon Spider together. Zhao Zilong killed it with Tang San's Godly Zhuge Crossbow and absorbed its ring while Tang San guarded him 12.

His independence repeatedly brought him into conflict with academy authority. When Flender imposed extra running before lunch, Zhao Zilong instead ate in a neighboring village and argued that proper nutrition was necessary. He nevertheless agreed to Yu Xiaogang's six-month conditioning program after Yu acknowledged his harsh introduction and explained its intended results 30.

His arena career included forming the Blue Snake Combination with Meng Yiran and defeating Yu Tianheng with Gentle Fist. The latter victory brought his record to 52 wins and no losses 37 46.

Later, he competed for Heaven Dou Royal Academy. During this period, he fabricated an influential background, claiming connections to Sea God Island and Bo Saixi to discourage stronger Soul Masters from targeting him 115 118. His victory over Tang San and public recognition as Bibi Dong's disciple made his break with his former classmates explicit 165 169 175.

Break with Heaven Dou and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

After winning the championship for Heaven Dou, Zhao Zilong sought the promised Haihan Qiankun Cover. Emperor Xue Ye withheld it, attempted to recruit him, and proposed marriage to Princess Xue Ke as the condition for receiving the royal heirloom 191 203.

An assassination attempt followed. Dragon Duke and Snake Grandma bought Zhao Zilong and Meng Yiran time to escape, while Yue Guan and Gui Mei ultimately prevented their deaths. Gu Rong's involvement also destroyed Zhao Zilong's trust in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 202 203 204.

Zhao Zilong concluded that joining Spirit Hall had already placed him against both powers, regardless of his former friendships or services. Bibi Dong promised to seek justice and help him obtain the Cover 203 204.

City of Slaughter and Spirit Hall Campaigns

Bibi Dong prepared Zhao Zilong for the City of Slaughter, where his special spear skills remained usable despite restrictions on ordinary Soul Skills. He later traversed Hell Road with Hu Liena and fought the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent 184 206 230.

The killing intent acquired there proved difficult to control. He studied etiquette under Tang Yuehua to suppress it, but insults from noble students provoked an eruption strong enough to form a towering God of Slaughter 242.

During Spirit Hall's Soul Hunting Operation, he commanded six thousand Soul Masters against the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. His force included eight Spirit Hall elders, Dragon Duke, Snake Grandma, Meng Yiran, and Ye Lingling 263.

His destruction of the City of Slaughter had unintended consequences: imprisoned Soul Masters escaped and became Evil Soul Masters. The King of Slaughter attacked the Elephant Armor Sect and demanded that Bibi Dong surrender Zhao Zilong and Hu Liena 323.

Following the failed Heaven Dou palace coup, Zhao Zilong also helped relocate people from the Three Elements Cities toward Spirit Hall territory, seeking to weaken the empire 327 342.

Divine Trials and the World of *The Legend of Qin*

Zhao Zilong pursued both the Sea God's and Asura God's trials. The Asura God's First Trial sent him to the world of The Legend of Qin to kill Ji Wuye and expose his crimes. There, he retained Soul Power and several special techniques but could not use his Martial Souls, domains, or ordinary Soul Skills, nor cultivate additional Soul Power 397 413 514.

He easily defeated Zi Nu and Wei Zhuang, but underestimated the combined defenses of Ji Wuye's mansion. Bai Yifei, archers, and other guards frustrated his assassination attempt, forcing him to retreat. He subsequently acknowledged his miscalculation and accepted shelter at Purple Orchid Pavilion 399 400 408 410 411.

His First Trial was eventually recorded as complete. Zi Nu and Yan Lingji accompanied him to Douluo Continent, where he helped them obtain rings and arranged financial support and protection in Spirit City 439 440 514.

Godhood and the Final Conflict

Zhao Zilong's later Sea God trials included killing the Evil Orca King and hunting the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King. After reaching level 98, he accepted Poseidon's inheritance and became the Sea God at age twenty-five 454 512 514.

He also drew the Asura Demon Sword and continued the Asura God's trials. His Ninth Trial offered a choice between killing Bibi Dong and helping her become the Rakshasa God; unwilling to kill her, he intended to remove the divine restriction preventing her advancement 494 527.

His conflict with Tang San remained unresolved by taking the Sea God inheritance alone. The later confrontation ends with Tang San's death and completion of the Asura God King's Tenth Trial 529 534.

Rebirth Side Story

In the side story, Zhao Zilong appears again without clearly remembering his previous relationship with Qian Renxue. He experiences déjà vu when discussing the system and approaching Shrek Academy, while Qian Renxue recognizes him immediately 544 545 546.

Qian Renxue rescues him from bandits, provides resources, and takes an active role in directing his development. His progression diverges from the main storyline when he awakens an Angel Bloodline and acquires a third Martial Soul 545 550.

Appearance

Zhao Zilong's appearance changes substantially through bloodline awakenings and divine power.

• Before awakening: Relatively unremarkable compared with his later appearance; acquaintances struggle to recognize him afterward 185 190 545.
• Blue Silver Emperor awakening: Flowing aqua-blue hair, fair skin, deep-set eyes, a sharp nose, and finely defined features 185.
• Later main-story appearance: His hair is described as purple or blue-violet. Drawing the Asura Demon Sword temporarily turns it silver-white and produces blood-red markings across his face and forehead 494 550.
• Sea God inheritance: Blue-gold divine armor forms around his body 514.
• Side-story Angel awakening: Golden hair, violet eyes, golden angel wings, and softer facial features. Qian Renxue subsequently dresses him in a white-and-gold outfit and applies makeup 550.

Personality

Zhao Zilong combines caution with a strong desire for independence. Zhao Wuji initially praises his careful judgment but encourages him to act more boldly. Zhao Zilong also recognizes the need for deterrence: before obtaining genuine powerful backing, he invents connections to Bo Saixi rather than allow others to see his vulnerability 7 115.

He is calculating about opportunities and relationships. He initially decides against interfering with Tang San and Xiao Wu's bond because he considers preserving the plot and following system missions more useful. Later, Tang San's continued growth despite losing opportunities convinces him that the original protagonist remains a dangerous threat 103 306.

His confidence frequently becomes arrogance, particularly when he believes opponents cannot threaten him. In the Qin world, he openly provokes powerful figures and insists that cooperation requires comparable strength. He can admit mistakes, however, as shown after the Heaven Dou assassination attempt and his failed assault on Ji Wuye's mansion 203 410 414 418 419.

He is flirtatious, possessive, and unwilling to abandon existing partners for another relationship. His protectiveness coexists with pronounced cruelty toward enemies: he demands Tang San's death and abducts and castrates Yu Xiaogang after interrogating him 150 343 521. In the rebirth side story, Qian Renxue identifies his fear of pain and lack of restraint as weaknesses she intends to correct 549.

His second Martial Soul begins as Mutated Fire Phoenix, initially burdened by uncontrolled evil fire. It later becomes Fire Phoenix and then the Ten-Headed Fire Phoenix, classified as a Super Martial Soul 148 217 280.
