Central 46 was one of the corrupt powers Aizen sought to overthrow. His pursuit of strength was driven in part by his goal of bringing down the institution. 7

Aizen later condemned its members as people who held positions while neglecting their duties, contrasting their perceived incompetence with Naruto's potential and bearing. 16

During the crisis surrounding Rukia Kuchiki's execution, the Central 46 Chambers—responsible for the Sōkyoku—were discovered to have been completely massacred. The discovery coincided with Aizen's reappearance and intensified the turmoil within Soul Society. 250
