Zabuza wielded Kubikiribōchō as a rogue Kirigakure ninja and one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. During Team Seven's mission to protect Tazuna, he used it while employing the Hidden Mist Technique and attempted to strike Naruto and Sasuke; Naruto intercepted the blow with Kyōka Suigetsu. 72 73
After reaching the Pure Land and evolving into an Adjuchas, Zabuza retained Kubikiribōchō. He drew it against Shion, then later used it against Naruto when Naruto sought to recruit him as a subordinate. 179 200
