"You don't seem very surprised?" Chen Yan was dissatisfied with Chen An's reaction.
"Given the intelligence you usually show, I figured you weren't ordinary."
"Isn't Innate Full Soul Power only natural?" Chen An joked.
Joking aside, he was still very happy for his little sister.
He just had to guide her properly. Once she became strong, casually bullying others could easily cost lives.
"Exactly." Chen Yan was quite pleased by Chen An's praise.
"Release your Martial Soul and let me see it," Chen An said, curious about what Martial Soul she had awakened.
A Martial Soul capable of granting Innate Full Soul Power should be an exceptionally high-level one.
"Okay!" Chen Yan agreed excitedly, raising her right hand and putting on a strained expression.
Seeing her expression, which looked a little like she was constipated, Chen An could not help finding it funny.
But he soon could not laugh anymore. Gray mist emerged from Chen Yan's right hand, carrying an evil, sinister aura.
Chen An's pupils constricted. That aura sent a chill down his spine and made him realize that something was wrong.
Chen Yan's expression gradually turned cold, while her face rapidly became pale.
It was not the pallor of weakness, but more like a natural state.
Just as wolf Martial Soul users would grow wolf fur when releasing their Martial Souls.
The pallor on her face also seemed to be caused by her Martial Soul's appearance, horrifyingly white.
Under Chen An's gaze, a slender cruciform sword slowly emerged from Chen Yan's right hand.
The instant the sword appeared, the atmosphere in the room became extremely oppressive, filled with the aura of death.
Gray mist soon spread throughout the room. An ordinary person would probably suffocate if they were here.
Yet Chen An was relatively unaffected. He was not afraid of the deathly gray mist and even found it somewhat familiar.
Even so, his heart was racing as he stared unblinkingly at the Martial Soul Chen Yan had released.
His thoughts churned. He had never imagined that his little sister would awaken an evil Martial Soul.
Did that not mean she would become an utterly heinous Evil Soul Master in the future?
The thought of what his little sister might become instinctively filled him with fear.
He was not afraid that she would hurt him. He was afraid that she would walk down that path of no return.
"How could she awaken an evil Martial Soul? Could it be..." Chen An was deeply shaken.
He vaguely understood why their father had repeatedly warned them not to awaken their Martial Souls.
So he knew they might awaken evil Martial Souls, which was why he had forbidden it.
"Is Dad an Evil Soul Master, or is Mom? Or perhaps both?"
Chen An could not help considering the question, his thoughts becoming a mess.
His mother had died after giving birth to Chen Yan. Now, only their father remained.
In his memories, his mother had seemed perfectly normal—gentle and kind, with nothing evil about her.
"Brother, my Martial Soul looks nice, right?" Chen Yan's indifferent voice came over.
Chen An looked at Chen Yan's expressionless face, and his heart sank to the bottom. This Martial Soul's influence was truly immense.
He could tell that Chen Yan had spoken in a cheerful, showy tone just now.
Yet her words had come out icy cold, without the slightest emotion. The immense contrast made him deeply worried.
It had already affected her so greatly just after awakening. If she continued cultivating, what would happen?
"Hurry and put your Martial Soul away." Chen An no longer cared about studying her evil Martial Soul and urged her instead.
Chen Yan reluctantly withdrew her Martial Soul, apparently unhappy that he had not praised her a few more times.
Once she put away her Martial Soul, Chen Yan slowly returned to normal and regained her former liveliness and childish innocence.
"How many people know that you awakened a Martial Soul?" Chen An crouched in front of Chen Yan and asked very seriously.
Chen Yan was frightened by Chen An's solemn expression and no longer dared to act playful or laugh.
"The person who helped me awaken it, and some Spirit Pagoda staff."
"Tell me everything that happened to you at the Spirit Pagoda, quickly. Don't leave anything out, understand?" Chen An became even more serious.
"Okay..." Chen Yan obediently recounted everything that had happened at the Spirit Pagoda in full detail.
Because Chen An had made her so nervous, she did not tell it very smoothly.
"Brother, did I do something wrong?" Chen Yan asked cautiously.
Her eyes had already begun to redden, and her little hands were twisting together as she feared being scolded.
Seeing Chen Yan's pitiful appearance, Chen An tried his best to soften his expression.
He forced out a smile and smoothed her hair. "No."
"You only went to awaken a Martial Soul. You didn't bully anyone, so what mistake could you have made?"
"It's just that Dad might scold you because of this, so you should be mentally prepared for it later."
Chen Yan shrank her neck, clearly somewhat afraid of their father, and looked at Chen An pleadingly.
"Brother, how about we don't tell Dad? Then I won't get scolded."
Chen An shook his head helplessly. "This can't be hidden, nor should it be."
"I think we need to tell Dad as soon as possible, then move away. We can't keep living here."
From Chen Yan's description, the people at the Spirit Pagoda clearly knew that she had awakened an evil Martial Soul.
The Federation always eliminated those who possessed evil Martial Souls.
"Ah!" Chen Yan was shocked, and her eyes reddened even more. She had clearly made a huge mistake.
Otherwise, why would they suddenly need to move?
At that thought, her tears began falling uncontrollably. She already regretted going to awaken her Martial Soul.
Chen An comforted Chen Yan while thinking of a solution, his mind in complete turmoil.
"Xiao An, Yan Yan, I bought you some pastries." Chen Feng opened the door and returned home.
Seeing Chen An and Chen Yan waiting for him, he smiled and held out the pastries in his hand.
Chen Yan instinctively reached out to take them, but held herself back and looked toward her brother beside her.
Chen An's expression was serious, leaving Chen Feng baffled and vaguely sensing that something was wrong.
"Did you two make some kind of mistake?" Chen Feng asked tentatively, the smile fading from his face.
"Xiao Yan secretly went to awaken her Martial Soul. It's a sword, and she has Innate Full Soul Power," Chen An said.
Chen Feng froze completely, and the pastries in his hand fell to the floor.
He abruptly turned to look at Chen Yan. She lowered her head aggrievedly, not daring to meet her father's eyes.
"Release your Martial Soul and let me see it," Chen Feng said in a deep voice. He was clearly angry, though he was suppressing it.
Chen Yan did as she was told and once again released that slender cruciform sword.
"Did it mutate?" Chen Feng was somewhat stunned as he looked at the longsword.
"Dad, isn't your Martial Soul also this?" Chen An asked.
Chen Feng shook his head. "My Martial Soul is also a sword, but it is nowhere near as powerful as Yan Yan's."
"Her Martial Soul must have mutated, and it's a beneficial mutation."
A beneficial mutation meant that the Martial Soul had become stronger, but he could not feel happy about it at all.
"What was Mother's Martial Soul?" Chen An asked naturally.
"Her Martial Soul was also a sword, only it was rather evil."
"I think Yan Yan's Martial Soul became like this because of your mother."
"However, your mother's Martial Soul was nowhere near as powerful as Yan Yan's. Her Martial Soul's mutation is far too powerful," Chen Feng said.
He had never told the Chen An siblings about Martial Souls before, but now he had no choice but to explain.
Learning that Chen Yan's Martial Soul had become stronger did not make him happy in the slightest. Instead, he was filled with worry.
A stronger evil Martial Soul was absolutely not a good thing.
Chen An frowned. For some reason, he now had a feeling that Chen Yan's Martial Soul mutation was related to him.
There was no basis for that feeling. It was merely an inexplicable intuition, and whether it was accurate was impossible to say.
