Background / History

Tsunade is Hashirama Senju's granddaughter and Tobirama Senju's grandniece. Her childhood memories include Hashirama teaching her to gamble and Tobirama waiting with her for Nawaki's birth. She later retained Hashirama's necklace as one of her last personal links to him and to Konoha. 90 234

During the Second Ninja War, Tsunade fought beside Orochimaru and Jiraiya as part of the Three Ninja. She prepared antidotes to Chiyo's known poisons and administered them across a thousand-ninja Konoha force before battle, allowing Konoha to withstand Sunagakure's poison tactics. 5

Her lover, Dan Katō, was killed during a reconnaissance mission shortly before the decisive battle in the Land of Rain. Tsunade returned covered in blood and was left traumatized by the loss; she developed hemophobia, despite being unable to heal the underlying psychological wound herself.
