| Underworld Authority / Netherworld | 326, 332 | Takes Pandora’s Ring of Usurpation to pursue the Underworld’s Authority. He later manifests the Netherworld Noble Phantasm, dispersing 967 Underworld spaces and using sealed Authorities as fuel against Fate. 326 332 |
| Fate | 332, 334 | Reaches the true mass of fate after destroying its “carpet” and subsequently obtains Fate. He notes that this does not make him omniscient or omnipotent, though it is a necessary step toward that realm. 332 334 |
Background / History
Bai Yue first appears protecting Aisha from a demon, physically overpowering it and countering its black flame with a larger black flame of his own. Soon afterward, he catches a Spear of Light launched at him by a black-haired church-affiliated girl, demonstrating that he is already far beyond an ordinary human combatant. 89 92
He begins recruiting powerful beings into the Seventy-Two Pillars of Demons. When Yasaka becomes a target of the Hero Faction, Bai Yue offers her a card that can make her one of his Demon Gods, stating that the decision is hers and that he will not force her. 130
After arriving in the Heavenly Realm, Bai Yue takes an active role in examining the core system left behind by the previous God of the Bible. He identifies angels and believers with problematic faith, investigates systems for angel rebirth, and considers developing the Divine Artifact System to locate Divine Artifact holders. 195 196
His pursuit of Divine Authority leads him into conflict with Disobedient Gods. During his battle with Athena, he uses Veleslana’s tenth incarnation, the Golden Sword, to sever Divine Power and seal her three Divine Sparks. He later pursues the Authorities of the Underworld and Fate, using them to expand the scope of his Noble Phantasm and challenge the Fate Domain itself. 266 326 332 334
Appearance
Bai Yue outwardly appears as a young man, though several characters perceive him as far older, more experienced, or more dangerous than his appearance suggests. 415
- An eighteen-winged Mark covers more than half of his back and resembles an artificial tattoo rather than a normal Demon Slayer Mark. 426 427
- The Mark grants heightened physical ability and senses when activated. 441
- His body can be visibly damaged or weakened despite his regenerative ability; a curse later causes it to rust and become stiff. 696 720
Personality
Bai Yue is calculating, curious, and highly pragmatic. He routinely studies unfamiliar worlds, power systems, mythologies, and people, often treating dangerous situations as experiments or opportunities to gather information. He is willing to deceive, manipulate, or exploit an opponent’s weakness when it serves a larger objective. 201 256 326 638
He is also openly teasing and shameless in interpersonal situations, frequently provoking reactions from those around him. His behavior can be domineering, particularly when he holds overwhelming power over another person. 395 473 500
Despite his ambitions, Bai Yue retains concerns about losing his humanity. After obtaining Fate, he reflects that becoming an omniscient and omnipotent existence might turn him into an emotionless “program.” He ultimately defines himself as human by personal conviction rather than physical limits. 334 503
Abilities & Skills
Fate Execution
Bai Yue possesses the skill and title Fate Execution, which is connected to his role as creator of the Fate Execution Mechanism. In Orario, this ability is suspected of contributing to a chain of seemingly accidental deaths, though the Guild cannot establish evidence against him. 398 698 700
- Can interact with and alter fate-related structures after obtaining Fate. 332 334
- Severs fate-related threads, including one that prevented Athena from speaking an identity aloud. 307
- Is not equivalent to unrestricted control over all worlds or omniscience. 334
- Its effects can be difficult for observers to prove, allowing incidents to be ruled accidents. 695 700
Magic and Dimensional Manipulation
Bai Yue is an exceptionally capable spellcaster with extensive knowledge drawn from multiple worlds and systems.
- Generates black flames capable of countering demonic fire. 89
- Uses overwhelming magical power to erode and nullify an opponent’s yokai fire before it can detonate. 129
- Recompiled Kuroka’s time-manipulation spell to create a duplicate of himself. 201
- Creates temporary dimensions resembling the Time Temple. 201
- Manipulates multiple timelines and simultaneous engagements, an operation Kuroka considers extraordinarily difficult. 212
- Learns and improves other people’s magic rapidly; he reproduces Tione’s magic and creates an enhanced grimoire for it within a day. 726
Seventy-Two Pillars of Demons
Bai Yue can recruit and transform others into Demon Gods through Demon God cards.
- Offers cards to prospective recruits, who must pour their own power into the card to complete the process. 130
- Has transformed Xenovia into one of his Demon Gods. 197
- Integrates the Seventy-Two Pillars cards into Ophis as part of their contract. 201
- Avoids converting descendants of existing Pillars without consent, as the stored power within their bloodlines could activate a summoning array and alert others. 101
Divine Authority and Noble Phantasms
Bai Yue obtains, studies, and weaponizes Divine Authorities rather than relying on a single power source.
- Golden Sword — Veleslana’s tenth incarnation; severs Divine Power and becomes more effective with greater knowledge of the target. 266
- Pale Rider — Accesses its abilities directly after assuming its role; can grant Divine Authority under specific conditions. 240
- Netherworld — A Noble Phantasm connected to the Underworld; devours surrounding Gods and can disperse the Underworld’s spaces. 332
- Ring of Usurpation — Used in his effort to usurp the Underworld’s Authority. 326
Regeneration and Altered Physiology
Bai Yue possesses extreme recovery capabilities, though his body is not free from limitations.
- Demonstrates regeneration by injuring and reviving himself in front of Aoi Kanzaki. 428
- Rapidly heals severe combat wounds, including an arm twisted during a clash with an assassin. 711
- His blood may suppress Oni and causes unusual reactions in Nichirin ore. 435
- His DNA is “locked”; direct contact with it can cause another Oni’s blood to reconfigure and reinitialize. 415
- A curse can rust his body, reduce mobility, and leave him dependent on healing medicine to sustain combat output. 706 711 720
Eighteen-Wing Mark
Bai Yue’s unique Mark manifests as eighteen wings across his back.
- Enhances physical ability and senses when activated. 441
- Resonates with other Marks and may assist their activation. 441 453
- His understanding of Marks leads the Demon Slayer Corps to believe he may know how to control their effects and prevent their shortened lifespan. 427
Combat Skill
Bai Yue combines unusual powers with deliberate close-quarters tactics.
- Uses Blood Breathing to poison Gyutaro through both direct attacks and the demon’s own bleeding. 439
- Deliberately places himself in dangerous situations to force allies or opponents to confront their fears and fight at full strength. 430 718
- Defeats an LV.5 assassin despite sustaining major injuries. 711
- Can inspire his “chess pieces” to resist magical conversion and self-destruct rather than betray his side. 383
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Demon God cards — Used to recruit and transform individuals into members of the Seventy-Two Pillars. 130 201
- Ring of Usurpation — Taken from Pandora for studying and usurping the Underworld’s Authority. 326
- Golden Sword — The Authority of Veleslana’s tenth incarnation. 266

Trivia
- Bai Yue considers curiosity one of his defining weaknesses and repeatedly seeks out unfamiliar worlds despite already ruling over stable worlds of his own. 235
- He considers the possibility of becoming omniscient and omnipotent both desirable and dangerous, fearing it could erase his emotions. 334
- His Falna status is abnormal: Hestia can display his abilities as data, but cannot actually grant him a normal divine Grace. 698
